    I think you need to move this to the main hardware section. This is the Corsair section of the website,so its not fair to talk about competitors.

    Sorry on a tablet, hence the need to build a computer. Didn't realize I was in a paticular PSU section... Do I move the post?

    it wasn't clear if you were asking specifically about Corsair power supplies, so I have moved this thread to the general technical section - where there will be some willing Hexites to advise you!

    £100 is massive for that type of powersupply. A quality 550W (tbh probably even 450 ish) would be fine. At the budget end I'd be looking at the XFX XXX ones, Be Quiet Pure Power, Seasonic M12II etc.

    Re: Best 650ishW for around £100

    Agree with herulach, 650W is sort of overkill for a system with a single R9 290X, but not really enough for a system with two of them.

    However if I was spending £100 on a PSU I'd get one of these:
    Fractal Design Newton R3 600W
    Cooler Master V700
    Enermax Revolution87+ 550W

    Re: Best 650ishW for around £100

    @D1DM:
    It is the gfx card that recommends such PSU. I was looking at 7870 and it recommended 650w, minimum 500w.

    That's just to take account of terrible PSUs that can't supply half their rated wattage.

    You could also check out the Silent Pro M2 series of Cooler Master. Very good PSU in the lower range of wattage. And under the £100.

    Corsair make great PSUs, there's a modular 750w one here for under £70:

    The builder series are their budget ones, so not the best.
