Gibbo specifically stated it was because of their abysmal customer support and the shop ended up being out of pocket by doing the right thing and honouring the warranty even though XFX didn't want to know.
Well yes, in the UK your contract is with the store, not the manufacturer. If the product is faulty then the store has to deal with it, which if they don't get good compensation from a manufacturer I can see them not wanting to deal with them any more. But the consumer is at least protected.

XFX PSUs are excellent, Seasonic internals but apparently their RMA isn't very good, so on those grounds I'd go for the CX (CX is just fine for me, I have the CX600M and it's very quiet and performs quite well.)

Re: XFX Pro 450W vs Corsair CX series

Corsair RMA is located in Holland, which is a negative point for me.

On top of this the use of a basic sleeve bearing fan and generally worse capacitor quality also are additional negatives for me.

The XFX PRO 450W is also shorter than normal meaning it will be easier to fit into more cases. I use one in my SFF PC,with a Xeon E3 and a GTX660.

Corsair is cost cutting on more and more of their PSUs,and IMHO the competition has stepped up.

Also, remember in the US,there have been massive rebates on their PSUs meaning they are quite cheap, which gives them a more positive appearance in the US.

Interesting, I still cannot find any complaints about the rma, but there where a lot of fan issues, mainly with the 850w model.

It's sad if xfx's customer service has gone down hill, the psu division xfxforce was a sort of subsidiary and they used to have very good customer service.

Re: XFX Pro 450W vs Corsair CX series

Hey guys, just butting in here with your conversation! I was reading for a long time at how XFX psu's were very good for the price, being made by Seasonic/oems of it etc... But i also started to read with the customer service not being brilliant (which when reading was gutted about) but having really good psu's (personally though when i read that i vowed to avoid the gpu's if any problems arose) The not 100% knowing on the returns is pretty much the only thing that makes me hesitant with XFX.

So is it correct in saying that if you purchase from scan/ebuyer/amazon they would honor the entire warranty if anything went wrong with them? I'm deciding between the XFX 550, and the Seasonic 520 (About £10 difference)

Re: XFX Pro 450W vs Corsair CX series

No only for the first year on XFX psu's, after that it's with XFX if you remember to register the psu.

For xfx graphics cards the whole warranty is covered by the retailer and it's up to the retailer as to how much they give you.
