RM650 vs Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 750W
I was wondering which one you guys would advice?
The Seasonic comes in slightly cheaper but is only Bronze rating whereas the RM is Gold. Don't think the Gold/Bronze rating bothers me too much but was wondering which was the better quality PSU for the money?
RM 650-£83
Seasonic M12II-£73
Re: RM650 vs Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 750W
What is the system that the unit is going to be powering?
If the EVO Editions are anything like the originals then they are noisy. Apart from that the only reason not to get one is if you can get a better unit for less/similar price.
Which I think you probably can. The most obvious one to me is the EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 @ Dabs for ~£83:

NZXT Hale90 650W is a cheaper (and superior in some ways - IMO) alternative to the RM650 at the moment as well: (~£66 @ OCUK)

Re: RM650 vs Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 750W
A 760 TI with an I5 3.4 GHz. I know I don't need a 750w powersupply but since I saw that it was cheaper and from Seasonic I thought it was an option. I have not really heard much about NZXT nor can I find a great deal about them in google, though it may be a lazy search:P Are they a reliable brand?
Re: RM650 vs Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 750W
Yes, the Hale90 units from NZXT are very high quality. They are based on the Super Flower Golden Green series, very few of which (only one that I know of) have received negative reviews from competent reviewers.
Here are some reviews for other members of the series (which are relevant as the platform is the same for all members of the Hale90 series):

Ok. Thanks for the awesome advice and the links. Will probably look at getting one of them now:)
Re: RM650 vs Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 750W
I have recently bought the Seasionic EVO 750W and its great
Re: RM650 vs Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 750W
The seasonic is high quality components, as its made by Seasonic
The RM 650 is made by CWT and doesnt use as high quality components.
80 Plus Bronze = a car with 30mpg
80 Plus Gold = a car with 40 mpg
80 Plus Platinum = a car with 50 mpg.
30mpg = pugueot 106 petrol vs BMW 130i - both offer 30mpg, but one is vastly better build quality.
50mpg = pugueot 306 diesel vs BMW 520d - but offer 50mpg, but one is vastly better build quality.
You pay for what you get typically.
Re: RM650 vs Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 750W
I would avoid anything made by NZXT right now. Yes they are high quality units built by Superflower but NZXT's customer service is abysmal. They lost their european provider and they have no support at all at this time. We have had a few people over at OCUK forums that haven't even had a reply from them.
If you really want a 750w psu then the EVGA Supernova G2 750w has to be the best bang for buck around. That 10 year warranty along with EVGA's excellent customer service makes it unbeatable at the moment.
Re: RM650 vs Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 750W
Consider Be Quiet PSUs as well - high quality, admittedly more expensive but quite a few going second hand
Re: RM650 vs Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 750W
The Seasonic is going to be better value for money, and it is made by a legendarily reliable brand.
Re: RM650 vs Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 750W
Seasonic is a good bet because they do have that wonderful habit of extending some of the more important higher end components down through the lower priced units, the best example would be high quality capacitors.
I would take the Seasonic unit out of these 2, although Channel Well is a good OEM and they make the Corsair RM units, I wouldn't turn my nose up at CWT PSUs.
Whenever you're looking at a Corsair unit it's worth looking somewhere like Jonnyguru to see who the OEM is as Corsair use quite a few including Seasonic. (My AX750 is a Seasonic X series inside)
