Need Help Selecting a PSU
Hey, thanks for taking the time to look!
I'm putting together a gaming rig soon, and i'm quite happy with all the parts i've selected, except the PSU. Not entirely sure what the right wattage is for me, or the best option. Ideally I would like to keep the cost below £60. Rig specs below:
i5-4670K
Corsair H100i Refurb
MSI Z97 Gaming 5
Kingston HyperX Beast 8GB DDR3-2400
Crucial M500 240GB
Toshiba 2TB 3.5" HDD
MSI GTX 770 2GB Twin Frozr
Fractal Design Arc Midi R2
Corsair CX600M
I'm waiting for the release and reviews of the unlocked Haswell refresh CPU's, so the 4670K is likely to be changed for the refresh equivelent. I will be looking to overclock both the CPU and GPU. Don't think i'm considering SLI at this point.
Any recommendations on the PSU front? Any help much appreciated :)
Re: Need Help Selecting a PSU
With this system any 550-600W mid range PSU will be enough. What is your budget? I would not go for a CX600M if I were you, there are better power supplies at a bit more money and similar at less. CM600M is a rather noisy power supply, and is mediocre in any other way. Even the main cap, albeit a Panasonic one, is 85°C rated. Super Flower Leadex Gold 650W is a very good choice and only marginally more expensive. If this is too expensive, you can check Cooler Master V550S and Corsair TX550M.
P.S. I do not know if you have bought everything yet but this system is not balanced - I know the AIO coolers look very cool but they are too expensive for what they offer. I would go with a Thermalright TRUE Spirit 140 Power as you are aiming at a wide case that will accommodate the tall cooler with no problem. I would not go for a Crucial SSD but a Samsung one and 240GB might be too much. I do not know what you are planning to use it for but if it's just for the OS 120/128GB is plentiful. The motherboard is also an arguable choice but there is so much preference going there and I guess you are choosing it for the colour scheme. Just check the other options as well, GB, Asus, Asrock and choose appropriately.

400W is more than enough, so going for a good quality 450-500W unit would be better than a cheap 600W one.

Thanks for the quick replies! I think the Corsair TX550M looks good. Did see that the CM VS550 is 80+ Gold instead of bronze, do you think that would be worth the extra £10?

Nope.
