    Question Reliable Budget PSUs

    Hey folks!

I'm looking for a reliable power supply unit, but on a budget.

Power needs to be around 500W - 550W.

The maximum i want to spend is between £50 - £55.

    Any ideas?

Cooler Master G550M (£45-47). Even the 650W version is within your budget.

    Re: Reliable Budget PSUs

XFX PSUs are often reccomended for their value, & performance. I believe they're still manufactured by Seasonic (one of the better OEMs), & usually carry a 5 year warranty.

    Re: Reliable Budget PSUs

Hi, and thanks for the recommendations so far!

I've just read some reviews on the PSUs listed above, both get the thumbs up.

Leaning towards the XFX PRO 550W Core Edition at this moment, sounds like a solid unit!

Thanks for the links, just reading them through now... How do you guys rate the Super Flower PSUs? OcUK community seem to be recommending them a lot!

Just finished with all the reviews with regards to both the Cooler Master G55M and the XFX PRO 550W Core Edition, and i think my mind is pretty much settled on the XFX, sea sonic quality has swayed it for me on this.

Can't find any reviews on Super Flower PSUs, so i think it's pretty much a done deal on the XFX.

Thanks for the information guys, much appreciated!

    Re: Reliable Budget PSUs

The XFX PSUs are pretty stable from my experience Sea Sonic inside is always a big plug. Don't think you can do much better for the price to be honest.

    Re: Reliable Budget PSUs

I have been looking around for the past week or so now before posting here for help, and I have to agree with you. I've not been able to find anything that can much the XFX for price, and performance. £47.76, a price I'll be glad to pay today!

    Re: Reliable Budget PSUs

You can find reviews for many PSU brands at RHTX, here is the specific page for Super Flower:
    http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page330.htm

Other brands which use Super Flower as the OEM for their units include: Kingwin (Lazer Gold, Lazer Platinum), EVGA, Rosewill (Capstone, Lightning, Tachyon), PC Power & Cooling (Silencer MK III 750-1200W). If you have time after reading all the positive reviews for those units, then there is also Sentey (Golden Steel Power, Platinum Power).

    Re: Reliable Budget PSUs

Another recommendation for the NZXT Hale90 from me. It's not modular and it's slightly longer than a standard ATX PSU (only a problem in itx cases etc), but it's solidly built with quality capacitors, gold rated and has more connectors than you can shake a stick at.

I'd definitely take it over the XFX if you can deal with it being slightly longer. It has 4 rather than 2 PCI-e cables and is more efficient. That said, the XFX is still very good and it's cheaper if you don't get free delivery from OCUK.

    XFX TS 550w £46.93 delivered from CCL - http://www.cclonline.com/product/623...-Unit/PSU0246/
    NZXT Hale90 550w £43.99 + delivery - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CA-143-NX

    Re: Reliable Budget PSUs

Not due to order until Friday, and i've just found the NZXT Hale90 at SCAN... a tad expensive! Plus, I have free delivery with them. I'm prepared to up my budget, maximum i'll go is £60 on a PSU. I'm pretty much leaning towards the XFX.

Just found the Seasonic M1211-520 EVO Edition at SCAN for £54.98? Any feedback on this PSU? Should be decent considering it's a Seasonic.

It's fine - if you need modular then go for it, otherwise the PSUs Bagnaj97 mentioned are better value and come from shops with probably a better returns procedure.

    Re: Reliable Budget PSUs

I bought two of the NZXT 550W PSUs - one for Bagnaj97 and for another mate.

They both are built like tanks and are finished to a very high standard.

The M12 EVO is fully modular though which is unusual for the price:

    http://www.expreview.com/album/26922.html#4

OTH,the NZXT PSU is Gold rated.
