    Super Flower PSU opinions?

Am looking for a new PSU and they seem to be good specs for the money however i've not been able to find much in the way of real world reviews/opinions.

Am particularly keen on a quiet PSU as my old Cooler Master was quite noisy (although it did last 8 years)

    Any opionions would be appreciated.

Superflower are pretty decent, EVGA G2 is the same leadex platform.

    Re: Super Flower PSU opinions?

SuperFlower are generally good, esp their higher end units
In the past they did make some ropey units mainly cheap stuff for other brands, these days they've stepped up their game and focus on higher end stuff.

    Re: Super Flower PSU opinions?

Very good psu's and if you buy from OCUK the complete warranty is with them. As also mentioned, the EVGA Supernova G2 psu's are built by Superflower and based on the Leadex Gold platform. EVGA must have a lot of faith in them as they offer a whopping 10 year warranty on them. Just about every other week OCUK has them on their this week only deals which update on a Wednesday so keep an eye on them.

I wouldn't want a warranty with over clockers. They managed to forget to send my last 3 orders from them and didn't apologise what so ever.

That being said, its just my experience with them. Others will most likely have had good experiences.

PSU wise, their new stuff is top notch according to johnny guru

They have been patchy in the past but these days a quick email to Bailey or 5UB gets things sorted quickly. I could say exactly the same thing about Scan though. I have never had anything but abysmal customer service from them. That and their extortionate shipping costs (don't get free shipping up here with anybody that uses DPD anymore) has put me off ever using them again.

Doesn't DPD have a depot in Inverness which can't be too far?

    Re: Super Flower PSU opinions?

Yes but it makes no difference. Since OCUK, Scan and Aria switched to DPD I have lost all free shipping and can't get any better than a 2 day delivery. I get most of my parts from Amazon these days.

    Indeed.
These days, OCUK has a reputation for bending over backwards to help out unhappy customers. Most of my computey friends refuse to buy from anyone else and will pay higher prices just to have that OCUK insistence of customer satisfaction.

Said computey friends all rave about Superflower PSUs too, which is why I'm considering one myself. I'm currently on an OCZ 650w, which isn't massively high-powered for the kit I'm using.

One thing I haven't confirmed about SuperFlowers, though, is whether you can turn off those socket LEDs...?

    Re: Super Flower PSU opinions?

No you can't. It's the one thing that puts me off the Leadex series and I would go for the EVGA Supernova G2 units instead. Essentially they are the same psu. Built by Superflower and based on their Leadex Gold platform but no tacky led's and a whopping 10 year warranty. There are other modular Superflower psu's such as the Golden Green modular but I expect the reason they are not stocked is because the prices would clash with other models.

    Re: Super Flower PSU opinions?

I got the EVGA Supernova G2 based on a few reviews and have to say that it's so quiet I actually took my build apart to make sure the fan was spinning.

It also has an "Green" mode which means the fan won't start to spin until a set temprature is met. Not sure why they need this on a Gold PSU to be honest.
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.

XFX PSU's are excellent. Rebranded SeaSonic units and thats about as good as a PSU gets IMO.
