Re: Is delta an actual safe power supply manufacturer?

As far as I'm aware, while Enermax used to run their own factories they closed them down fairly recently and have since been contracting out their products to CWT. But JonnyGuru pointed out that they're still thoroughly Enermax designed with Enermax sourced components rather than being based on a CWT platform so you probably wouldn't know it if you looked inside. http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/show...1&postcount=15

I do consider them a good PSU brand though, in fact I'm still running a 525W Modu82+ myself, but a while back a lot of their higher end stuff seemed to be getting really expensive, and the cheaper stuff was often nothing special.

Compared to a few years ago though there is a lot of choice and competition for really good power supplies.

Re: Is delta an actual safe power supply manufacturer?

    Didn't know that, watercooled. Thanks.

As long as quality is maintained, I'm not bothered.

But there's alwsys a risk that, having gained a reputation (be it for high quality, or good quality at good price giving high value for money) companies seek to cash in on it. And fair enough .... providing they don't do it by unreasonably jacking up the price, or much worse, quietly letting quality slip.

Some things are worth paying more for, for high quality. PSUs are, IMHO, definitely one of them. It can just be a game working out who is providing high quality .... this month.

@Saracen: I won't quote your post, it was quite long, but I think you've nailed it there. Not many of us like to make recommendations simply because we don't want to be held to account if or when things go wrong.

I recently bought a new PSU myself, I shortlisted a couple of PSUs when doing it, my first choice was a Corsair AX760i but that was way out of my budget, second choice was the Corsair HX750i but this was at the very limit for size so it would have been a tight fit getting it into my case and also still outside of my budget. In the end I bought the EVGA SuperNova G2 750 watt PSU as this was still a little more than I wanted to spend but still on the right side of £100 and it did very well in the jonnyguru review.

I think rather than asking for recommendations you might get more help by posting about what components you have or plan on getting to assess the power requirements and then asking what others would do in that situation with the budget you're planning to put into it. This way you might get a few ideas to investigate and can then base your decision on your own research from the proposed list of suitable options.

Also if you request it, one of the mods should be able to move this thread to the appropriate section.

I'm pretty sure that Saracen has that privilege

Very good discussion guys, very informative. I've just learned a thing or two myself about Delta PSUs.

IIRC Delta are, or at least were the largest transformer manufacturer in the world, PSUs are only a small part of their portfolio, they also make fans amongst there many other areas of expertise, but for some reason I can never shake the memory of their fans being the loudest fans around.

I've been posting a lot of videos lately, someone needs to get my ISP to block access to YouTube! lol.

Indeed I do, but it's in a Corsair section. If you're happy for me to move it, I will.

Indeed, I caught a glimpse of them a few weeks ago when I was checking out how my Arctic F12s stack up in fan comparison benchmarks and I saw a bunch of Delta fans at the top that had double the CFM of any competitors. I then proceeded to google them and found out why after seeing that video as well as another one were the guy only grips it loosely and lets it move itself around a bit. Those fans are crazy but I don't think any sort of case short of a black hole is going to insulate that noise.

Actually, I meant if Greybeard, or more accurately, Corsair, want it moved.

This section is effectively run by Corsair, just hosted by HEXUS. As a HEXUS mod, I have the system permissions to be able to move it, but it's Corsair's section. I don't mod in here unless either it's at their request, or something that would adversely affect HEXUS, like something illegal.

I'm happy to move it, or not, whichever Corsair prefer.

OklahomaWolf over at jonnyguru seems to have a high opinion of Delta:

" All three main rails under the 10mV mark? That's not Seasonic performance, that's Delta performance. It does not get any better than this, from what I have ever seen."

There's a lot of people on here with a LOT of background. And there's a lot of people with a huge amount of industry experience. There's also a lof of computer enthusiasts that have been building, tweaking and overclocking PCs for, well, a very long time. By which I mean about 15 years, and a lot of the early members came here after several years on other tech forums first.

Answering questions like yours is, after all, pretty much what the forums are here for.
