People's experience with Super Flower PSUs?

Hi everyone,

I've recently put together a new build and decided to opt for a 750W Super Flower Leadex III, as it was on sale, had decent ratings (from the few reviews that I could find, as they don't seem to be offered to the US market) and because I couldn't find a decent price for a RM750x at the time.

I've read that Super Flower supply EVGA, which I'm also aware that some EVGA PSUs have their problems. I'm hoping that Super Flower keep the better produced stock for themselves.

My question is, does anyone on this forum currently use or has used a super flower PSU and what was their experience, critique owning one.

it's like anything, some of theirs are very very good and some aren't. Read PSU reviews and check noise-load curves and load-efficiency curves very very carefully, then look at warranty. Superflower generally have a reasonable reputation, but not all of their models are that good. I never buy a psu that doesn't have a guaranteed peak noise rating. So many current models have poor noise above 70% load.

I'm not aware of any particular EVGA issues... In fact, that's why I went with them instead of someone else.

SF have generally been pretty good. Most of my friends favour SF, though I can't personally abide their white LED connectors, especially if you don't have a PSU shroud... In almost a decade of building PCs, I've only known of one SF failure and that was a 1600w one that was long outside its warranty.

I'm aware that the matter is a few years old now, but for something as vital to a rig as the PSU, reputation is everything.

I've avoided EVGA for a while now. Mainly because the noise curve tends to go ballistic in the final portion of the chart and I just don't want that in my machine, but IIRC there was another problem with them a while back (I mean 10 years or so ago) with the fan bearings. I'd hope that had been sorted by now but it's thing about brand reputation etc.

Been using a Superflower 1200W for over 8 years now. For 8 months it was pulling 1250W from the wall 24/7 as part of a crypto mining rig and when then stopped I used it to power a R9 295X2 graphics card in my PC so it's had plenty of heavy loads on it and thankfully it's still going strong.
