    Rex.
There are some good suggestions there, and some not good.

Registering and proof of vet care (cat MOT ) aren't a bad idea - perhaps along with compulsary RFI tagging. However confining to owners property and restriction on numbers are way off. Confining territorial animals like cats can be considered an act of cruelty, and some breeds can't cope with being in a restricted area very well at all.

Likewise restricting a number per household doesn't make a lot of sense - why shouldn't the owner of a nine bedroom mansion have more cats than I living in a single bedroom flat?

I think that all animals should be cared for by someone who can and will take them to the vet etc. There is no excuse not to as there are charities to help those who can't affort to pay. I have no problems with people having loads of pets of any kind, as long as they can look after them properly.

I don't mind cats - infact I grew up with 2 Siamese cats, that and two Boxers. As Tigs said, the cats were boss.

I see nothing wrong with them, except when they use either the car as somewhere to dig their claws in - Mum's current car has some scratches on from a friendly moggy running across it. That and doing their business in our garden - not nice when you actually want to plant something...

Even as a dog owner I am definitely not anti-cat, but it does bother me when a multitude of cats poop in my garden. :-(

RSPCA say that all cats should be neutered, they should wear a bell and not be allowed to roam at night.

As to the suggestion that cats perform some kind of 'pest control', that's laughable. They may kill some 'pests' but they are also responsible for killing a lot of increasingly rare birds too.

    Just my 2p.

Cats tend to increase the pest population.. by bringing in play-things and then loosing them..

With my recent problem with mice/a mouse, I wouldnt have hesitated to get a cat, but unfortunately I am allergic.

Next doors cat used to live in our garden and used to have regular sparring matches with my dog. It is dead now, it got run over and then accidentally locked in its own shed! R.I.P. Lucky.

    Hi agent.
I will not go down the problems the domestic cat causes to gardeners, fish ponds, waste bags ect.But the more serious one.
It is estimated there is 9 million cats in the UK My guess is that at least 8 million of these are let roam In test on what the domestic cat Kills is having an effect on the population of protected Birds and Mammals. These wild creature can look after themselves in our overcrowded environment with the predators that should be here,But the domestic cat as now become so numerous and is such an efficient predator we are losing millions of protected species unnecessary.
There is lots of information on the net If you can not accept what I have just said

I can't accept what you've said, and I can find nothing on the internet supporting it.

Please show quality evidence that millions of different protected species are being lost because of domestic cats alone.

    Preferably with better grammar.

    Hi Kalniel.
Well if what you say is true, then the RSPCA should be takeing action to get all Zoo's and wildlife parks closed.
I do agree that a cat should not be shut in a small cage ,to become a prisoner like many rabbits are.But in the USA,Australia and many small Island states were cats have decimated the local wildlife the responsible cat owner have built runs that connect to their houses,Sure the cats will get out now and again but most of the time they will be out of arms way.
    Regards
    Rex

for the purpose of this dissucssion.

My cat has a chip that is registered to my name, and address. Before I took the cat the place I got her from came around and checked out my house and the facility to care for it.

My previous cat also had a microchip and the same vetting practice. I'm told that if I wanted another cat they wouldn't vet me again.
    It is Inevitable.....

rexgrant - post your sources or don't bother posting again.

I've done a little research of my own and it would appear you are hardly coming from the most impartial point of view , as an ornithologist.

No-one is disputing cats kill a lot of birds.

But you are blaming the decline solely on cats, and claiming bird populations are able to cope with distruction of habitats. This is widely regarded by legitimate sources to be the major cause of declining numbers.

I also will not excuse grammar this bad for any reason. I'm not a pedant, but try to make your posts readable. Nothing stops you from using a spelling and grammar checker.

you've made 5 posts. Now post your sources. most people don't attempt to do a very good trolling impression on their first post , so the 5 post limit isn't usually a problem.
