burka ban in UK 1 step closer

    http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20100717...s-6323e80.html

Kids aren't allowed in some shopping centres wearing Baseball caps or Hoddies with the hood up, why should people with religious beliefs be allowed.

im sure this will be a controversial topic, so keep it constructive. Ill try too

Sounds fair to me, too much is lost my hiding the face of someone - its why baseball hats, hoodies etc arn't allowed to be worn.

According to Muslim friends of mine, it's not written in the Qur'an that women should wear such extreme garments.

It's a fine line really between respecting another's beliefs and invading another's personal liberties.

I agree it's a fine balance, but in places like banks and Post Offices I believe you should remove them purely from a security point of view. I guess if someone decided to dress in a burka and rob somewhere that there would be a massive, over-hyped backlash fueled by the media which would lead them to be removed in all shops eventually.

Hasn't this already happened though? I'm sure it was only a few years back that a bloke fooled the cops by wacking on a Burka and they wasn't searching for a 'women'.

I'm all for it a prime example,

If you go to a "certain" prison in the UK (in fact all of them nearly but this one is mega strict on security) then you will be randomly searched, however the women who wear these, get through without the sniffer dog going near them, or being searched and yet they wonder how on earth mobiles and drugs get into the prison? theres only really 2 it could be, the officers or the women wearing some stupid face mask.

we cannot wear what we choose in there country so why should it be any different here? its the law and should be abided by everyone no matter what your belief.

Re: burka ban in UK 1 step closer

I really think that anyone who wants to live in the UK should respect what we in the UK say.

If I moved to a Muslim country with my girlfriend she'd be expected to wear decent clothing and not wear a low cut top or anything like that, so what exactly is the difference? (Sex and the City 2, as an example )

There was a guy who stabbed a 5 month old child and his mother in a Greggs in my town centre a few years ago and it turned out he fled the country using a Burka and a woman's passport.. Absolutely ridiculous!

Had to try quite hard to stop that developing into a rant there, absolutely hate this kind of thing, religion should be banned imo.

I would deffo agree to ban them, what if there was a car accident for example and offender escapes from the scene? You really need to be able to see someone's face.

How do they go about taking passport pictures for example? Or any pics at all...

They must all look the same lmao

Re: burka ban in UK 1 step closer

how about if there was some reckless driving from someone wearing a motorbike helmet, who fled the scene.

    we should ban motorbike helmets.

don't get me wrong, I think that they are quite rude to hide themselves away from the populace, I would consider it very rude if I had to have a conversation with someone and they didn't make eye contact, keeping hidden I would also not appreciate.

But i'll defend to the death their right to be rude
