Saudi man 'faces spine-op punishment'.

Amnesty International has urged Saudi authorities to stop any attempt to medically paralyse a man as a judicial punishment.

A Saudi judge is reported to have asked hospitals if it is possible to cut the spinal cord of the man, found guilty of paralysing another man in a fight.

Perfectly equitable. If you don't want yourself to be harmed, don't harm others, should use the same principle on chavs who thinks it's fun to gang up on people and stomp on their heads.

Same reason the death penalty is wrong.

In some cases, I can see the logic there. Murder someone else (premeditated), the state will have you killed.

In this case though, it's a bit unreasonable to say the least.

We don't know the facts, so potentially his mate was attacked, and he stepped in to help out his mate, punched the other bloke, who then fell back and injured his spine, severing his spinal cord.

In that instance, I don't see how being paralysed is reasonable retribution for the crime.

Quite frankly the entire idea is barbaric and not something that should be occuring in the modern world. I'm shocked that anyone on these forums is even considering the idea that this is a good idea!

Imho the idea of 'an eye for an eye' justice is so bad that it's not any step forward from survival of the fittest justice. And survival of the fittest is not 'justice'...

All this eye for an eye crap is just that, crap. People fight every single day and unfortunately, someone has to lose one way or another, that doesn't give a judge or anyone else the right to disabled or take another persons life.

Not convinced this is anything to do with Islam but more a case of their culture, which was mostly a product of the harsh environment. Best to remember to keep religion a seperate topic
