Exclamation Subdermal chipping (the ultimate ID card)

Baja Beach Club in Spain now has the option for customers to get chipped so they can gain entrance to the club without a membership card, and buy drinks without needing cash.

    Some articles on this:
    WorldNet Daily
    New Scientist
    Prison Planet

What's the general perception on this?
Personally, I might not mind being chipped purely for gaining access to certain chains of venues without needing a membership card - but I would draw the line at being able to purchase items just by waving an appendage in the vicinty of someone with a wand!

I say might not mind, as it really depends on how widespread the use could become, and how secure it could be (could someone dupe your chip and walk around as you, or could the system generate 2 identical IDs?).

For a single nightclub? Not a chance.
I would possibly only accede to any kind of subdermal chipping if it had a PIN system too, but that implies a centralised database of some kind... getting into the realms of the national ID card favoured by Mr Blunkett.

We are fast approaching a "Blade Runner" future it seems...

They are a good idea but should not just be used for entrance. They should store personal details and the ability to pay for things using them and so forth.

This would save having to have a wallet and keys

They are testing a system in the US where the price of items in a shop are personalised to you and your shopping habits. (It is based on your carrying a personal barcode reader).

Eventually it would move to a chip-implant, where you pass your hand over the digital price display for a product and the price would come up
