Re: how an atheist found God.

What do all of you athiests say to those of us who don't follow any religion, gospel, divine being or any other idea concieved and written by man and simpl believe that 'God' to give it a word is nothing more than Earth, nature, and the circle of life (Be it microscopic or the dinosaurs)... what then?

    Edit: Sure, and the universe.

I can't speak for the atheists, but I'd call you a tree-hugging hippy

Well, what you call 'God', scientists call natural laws and forces.

I can't tell if your being sarcastic or not.

If you don't have a divine being, and think that god is almost gia to use another term, then erm your an athiest, or if you think there might be something else at play too, agnostic.

Re: how an atheist found God.

My point is that too many people spend too much time argueing over who is right and who is wrong and not enough time enjoying what I call God. Life. Scientists call it natural laws and forces so i'm told. Natural.

    Natural.

    Nature.

    It's simple. Stop fussing guys.

Yes, natural, as opposed to supernatural, which is what God is suppose to be. Science can explain the Cosmos in natural terms, without some divine conciousness waving its hand over creation.

Yes but I don't think science is the be all and end all of things either my friend. I would class love as 'God' too. Science struggles with that one.

Rare enough that it's worth making a thread over?

    I find that heartening.

Over my head Compliment or stab through the heart?

Edit: If you mean it's too simple/convienient... That's the point i'm getting at. It's not difficult and doesn't need thousand page books to explain. Not in my eyes.

Re: how an atheist found God.

Thread title should actually read "How I found it easier to just accept what I'm told and not use my brain to investigate the claims".

The entire "article" consists of "I WAS TOLD THIS SO NOW I BELIEVE IT".

Comments like "However, the parts particularly convincing to me were the chemical properties of water, and the earth's position to the sun. It was all too perfectly designed, too perfectly put together" make it sound like it's been written by a 8 year old, not an apparent ex-atheist.

Science struggles with what exactly? Love?
Not really. The chemical reactions and the processes that are involved for what we describe as 'Love' have a lot of research and reasoning behind them. There are both solid foundations in the reasoning for biological and psychological methods behind it, much like other emotions. Wikipedia has a decent entry if you wish to look.

Don't single out love any more than 'hate'.

Re: how an atheist found God.

Sorry man, i've never had to read the Wikipedia entry for Love. I just feel it.

Some men just want to watch the world burn, and some men want an explanation for everything.

Edit: I would also class beauty and art as God. Poetry and acoustic music.

I would say that whatever you choose to believe is also God.

Again, it is that simple to me.

    Smiles
