    Old Parents?

Woman, 67, to be 'oldest mum yet'

Mrs Jovic told the media she would like a baby boy
Serbian doctors say a pregnant 67-year-old woman is set to be the oldest recorded mother.

At what age is it unacceptable to have kids? 67 has got to be just plain wrong imo.

It is not yet clear whether Mrs Jovic conceived naturally or not.
With a face like that, it's unlikely...

    67-year-old.... thats just plain wrong.

    Wrong in so many ways.

For a start... she's near the age the grim reaper likes to come calling. Who's to say that 2 weeks after giving birth she kicks the bucket due to some stress on her body brought on by the stress of giving birth.

...another good point is who's going to do all the active stuff with the child like running, cycling, swimming etc. Hell I bet she ain't nah she'll be sat in her favourite rocking chair knitting wooly jumpers for the poor little beggar and popping to the bingo hall every Tuesday for "over 60's night". Not to mention when the kids at school the mother will be OLD enough to be the Mother of the other Mothers who are picking their children up alone. Imagine the taunting this poor kids going to get.

Lastly - How old will that child be when both the parents turn into worm-food and end up in the human recycling centre also known as a graveyard? 10...11..12 ? Who knows but to loose parents at that age is bad enough and then the child will need rehousing with a foster family or similar.

It's called selfishness. Some people only care about themselves. They will obviously not care in the slightest about the problems their child could have!

Going on what WilkmonkeyUK said, can you imagine it at home time. "Hey <insert poor kids name here>, your Grandmother is here to pick you up." Reply would be "That's not my Grandmother, that's my Mum!"

My dad was 50 when my brother was born and 54 when i was born. He was the one active one out of him and my mum, we went swimming 4 times a week, and climbing 3 times. He was like any normal 30 year old. He would of been 70 next week, and im 16/17. I didnt see his age as a problem, i think i've benefited more than friends of mine, as he had higher standereds than most parents of today.

Yeah, I agree, having an older parent is a benefit. My Dad was 40 when I was born and he had much higher standards than some of the kids I grew up with. Most of them in my area ended up a chav and although I've had my problems, I've never felt as low as them.

BUT, saying that, having kids in your late 60's is going too far, that's too old!

I thought my parents were quite old ( well, older than all my mates ) 37 when I was born. But to be honest, it's the chavs that either have one extreme or the other. That is, either 50+ parents that can't control their kids or the extremely young that are chavs themselves and don't care

Giving birth is the single most important thing women need to do, it is the reason they exist. Men exist to spread their genes, women to do likewise, via childbirth.

It is always acceptable as an act, but yes, I wouldn't want my mom to be 67 years old than me. Also, the situation in Africa, where you have someone who can't feed himself, and he seems to have 7 kids... none of which he can feed either.

So, in short I don't know.

Its what we are on the earth to do, but there is a time and a place for everything, I suppose.

    1 - wouldnt hit it

2 - in my opinion its wrong, but im sure she wouldnt have just done it without thinking through all the possobilities, problems etc.

i mean she will undoubtably not see the childs full growth, so in my opinion its wrong to have a child when you know part of its childhood will be full of sadness isnt right.

I'd say it was just as bad as an early teen, even pre-teen, to be honest. The 67 year old should have a reasonable head on her and should understand the difficulties she will have raising a child, who some day very soon, may have to fend for itself. OK, she could live till 100, but how many people get to that age, even 80 or 90, without lots of care. Is it fair to force a child of mid teens to mid 20's to have to do that for their very old mother?

I believe mid to late 20's is prolly the best time to start a family. That way at least you've had chance to live a little & mature. And yes, early teens is prolly not a good time either, but that's a whole other thread.

Its very wrong. Having lost a parent at 23 that was devastating enough. 67 is completely unacceptable imo...

The Kid may have no support structure come the age of 5... Completely unresponsible as a parent..

its just wrong can't see any way to justify it..
