but bigman, drugs do harm people who dont do them. What if you had ecstacy and it gave you a heart attack, thing of all the people who would be mentally scarred? if people want to get high, its there choice, i will never do it, and i cant see it being legalised.

I think this is gonna be one of those threads were the one's who smoke it listen to no one else's opinions or any facts regardless because they enjoy getting stoned.

Not your punk.....how can you say it's not mentally addictive, its in your banner, your avatar and half your posts are about it. I occasionally drink alcohol, but I don't go around thinking and talking about it 24/7.

You quit for a few weeks over a year ago? and you're honestly saying you had no urges in that time not to have it? Not a convincing argument, it was definitly difficult when I decided to quit and I would've found it much easier to give up a suposedly more addictive drug like alcohol.

So you did your AS's this year? that'd make you under 18 so if it was legalised you wouldn't be able to smoke it anyway

amen! i do agree it should be available for medical purposes though for those for which other treatments don't work.

alternatively, my preffered solution would be to legalise it but ban smoking in public all together (weed and standard ciggies) and then have the NHS refuse to treat smokers for any conditions that are likely caused from smoking and suggest they take private healthcare instead. lets people who want to smoke do so if they want, but means they pay for their habit themselves, rather than have them share the cost with me. (as unfortunately this will never happen i'm sticking with banning it all together, 'cos i'm tight and i'd rather have people's freedom to smoke impinged upon than for me to pay their medical bills).

smokers contribute a much higher amount of funding to the NHS that non-smokers do, via taxing on tobacco products. they aren't scrounging healthcare others paid for, because they pay more for it.

If it was legalised it wouldn't be like alcohol is atm, it would actually be strictly limited to over 18s. This is one of the reasons I think that hard drug use would rise as under 18s who regularly use cannabis and can't get it anymore may try to use a harder drug as a substitute.

i will never touch anything else apart from weed and mushrooms. i've seen what happens to people when they move on, and its not nice. seeing one of your best mates decend into a pill-head scares you, especially when their life starts to go downhill and its all beacause they tried other stuff. i'm not going near anything else.

But that's you, I'm not sure everyone other under 18 cannabis user would have the same view. As you've said you've allready done mushrooms which is a class A drug (same category as crack and heroin).
