I'm sure theres a point to this thread , but I'm having a real hard time finding it.
It would help develop the discussion , if there is one to be had , if you would expand on your single line exclamation

2.70 pounds is actually usually what I pay for an 'unlimited' ticket.
I find this is excellent value for money and covers all Greater Manchester, Most of Lancashire and even some of Southern Yorkshire.
2 pounds is really nothing when you take into fuel costs, insurance, road tax and other charges.
its not £2.70 round greater london it used to be £3.50 as far as i know, not sure what it is now the rates have gone up tho
im just bitter that while i was under 18 i still had to pay and now its all free, y is it things always change for the better once u cant benifit.
Ah now I catch your drift
I understand its part of a move to persuade people to use Oyster Cards - as the Oyster fare is just a pound.

Oysters? Yuck.
Errr... which region are we talking about?
Rip Off London David....
I'm not suprised really as all the southerners are getting shafted as they opt to live in the big smoke.
Beer Prices - Your having a giraffe! ( plus it's watered down way too much )
House Prices - How much for a rotten, damp shed again?
Food - probably about average really.
Oyster cards are used in the village of London. no-where important

And it isn't just london that has expensive public transport (i didn't think it was too bad last time i was there). We only hvae busses in Aberdeen, i don't know the exact fares, i'll have to ask my brother, but i think a regular ticket is almost £2, and that is for much sorter routes than other larger cities.According to Nicole Carrol, then of EDS, the name reflects the way "the oyster protects a pearl in much the same way that the card protects the cardholder's money."

It's about 2 quids for average journeys round our region... but certainly still cheaper than most parking places
I still can't stand oysters though...
It costs me £1.50 each way in Milton Keynes - I could get that down to under a quid each way if I got a bus pass

i do think the oyster is quite a gd idea, easier to find than tryin to get all ur change out, its quicker to swipe etc etc. but for those that dont travel regular or jus need to hop on a bus now and again, its pretty expensive.
i guess it does persuade u to either not b lazy and walk, or to conform to the govs oyster. i like to have a choice tho and unless i want my journeys costs to build up im gonna have to convert.
It used to cost me £3.50 to get a return to the nearest City (one bus every hour)...so £2 doesn't sound too bad to me
Are bus subsidized partly by the gov so they shouldn't be too outrageous over the uk?. imo they need to change the age thing, now that I am over 16 I have to pay twice the amount of a child fare. So I am now called a adult? I still go to school every morning, pay the same amount as every else even though I am 16 and I go to school and I am a child. It's the same with trains but more expensive!
