Re: Splinter Cell Conviction

REVIEW:
Where to start.........this is not Splinter Cell at all it is far far from it!!
Firstly graphics- I don't know what the people who worked on this were doing but the graphics in many parts look outdated! Some of the textures are washed out with a lack of any sharpness. I was expecting a good looking game if nothing else, and sadly there was an epic fail here.
Game play: As I said this is not Splinter Cell!! There were hints to its Splinter Cell past but too much that ruined the game. In all the past Splinter Cell games stealth was your friend, and it was essential to use stealth to win a mission. However, with Conviction it seems that you can just as easily blast your way through a mission. The whole thing about the previous Splinter Cell games was the use of stealth, shadows, distraction noises etc Conviction has just washed that all away. Take this for example; At a number of points in the game something will trigger a large group of enemies to mass on you. The only way to defend this is to use your remote mines and grenades, otherwise they will swamp your position. It was as if the game was forcing you to play the whole game gun blazing. There are a few parts in the game where you have to interrogate an individual, but after the first one it lost its appeal. The worst point of the game is its signal play time (4 hours approx I must add I only spent an hour or less each day)! I had the game delivered on Thursday (day before release) and finished on Saturday. I feel cheated out of my money!
There are only a few good point about the game play- Enemies being able to pin point your last location if you messed up was a nice touch :) Also during the game images will play on the walls filling in some of the back story- again this was good. Lastly, not so much a good point or bad point the writing on the walls about what to do next.
Final comments- All in all a very poor game and one to avoid!! Spend your money on Red Dead Redemption instead :)
