Help me to build cheap Mini ITX Computer

I need some help, I want to buid cheap Mini ITX Computer for the internet and EPOS software. I dont need anything powerful like graphic but the performance should be good. Windows XP will be installed.

My budget is £150 to £200 max!

Here what I found so far:

Compucase Mini ITX Case - With 120W PSU and Front panel USB2.0 HD Audio

    Kingston 2GB DDR3 1066MHz i5 Memory Module CL7 1.5V

    Intel D525MW Atom D525 1.66GHz VGA Out Mini-ITX Motherboard
--- Will this CPU be faster than Pentium 4 3Ghz?

    Western Digital WD1600AAJS 160GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 8MB Cache - OEM

Which DVD Drive do I need to fit to that case?

Let me know if you can make it better spec and cheaper... Any website is fine, dont have to be from ebuyer.

One thing I would say is support for xp is starting to dwindle.

I have a mini itx bundle for sale in the classifieds (bargain) and you'd just need to add a case/psu and operating system.

Every thought about ubuntu or another version of linux.

Re: Help me to build cheap Mini ITX Computer

We've got a bunch of pc's at work which use those cases they are actually pretty good.
edit: we've got slightly more powerful psu's the 160w versions running Pentium Dual-Core E6500 on intel g41 motherboards, if I remember correctly.
They need slimline (laptop type) sata optical drives, which tend to be a bit more expensive.
    This should work http://www.ebuyer.com/268510-lg-gt32...-gt32n-auaa10b
or a bit more for a slot loader http://www.ebuyer.com/195641-samsung...-sn-t083c-bebe

I'd say that the Inwin BP655 is also worth looking at http://www.scan.co.uk/products/inwin...-with-200w-psu

not in stock and no psu but the Lian Li PC-Q07B lovely case http://www.scan.co.uk/products/lian-...tx-case-no-psu

Atom vs P4 . . . depends on what you're doing/looking for, the single core p4 (with ddr1) is starting to be a bit clunky these days even for just internet usage.
The Atom D525 while slower will generally be slightly better for day to day use because on the dual cores and faster memory access.

If you can push the budget then a cheap h61 motherboard http://www.ebuyer.com/274142-biostar...o-itx-th61-itx and Intel Pentium G620 http://www.ebuyer.com/264713-intel-p...or-bx80623g620 would be very good and leave some upgrade capacity.
eg you could start with 2gb ddr3 http://www.ebuyer.com/147903-kingsto...kvr1333d3n9-2g and still be able to add more later if needed.

Re: Help me to build cheap Mini ITX Computer

You will also need a SATA adapter for the slimline optical drive.

I would recommend a 60mm fan to go into that case, it doesn't come with one and if you don't then there's no directed airflow through the case.

Re: Help me to build cheap Mini ITX Computer

I would have look at this nettop:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/267867-emachin...p-pt-nbzec-004

You can use an external optical drive:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/search?sort=pr...imit=10&page=1

The other alternative is to go with what Pob255 has suggested regarding the Intel Pentium G620.

I would also consider this H61 ITX motherboard too:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/msi-h...3gb-s-mini-itx

It does not have a PCI-E 16X slot though but IMHO for a cheap office PC this should not be an issue.

    Edit!!

This nettop with 2GB of DDR2 and a laptop DVD drive should be around £150:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/276353-shuttle...-shut-xs35-702

It comes with a card reader and a wireless card too.
