Overkill for gaming and general use? Also toying with the idea of upgrading the GPU to 7950 due to the recent price drop
Re: New Build - Overkill for general use and gaming?
I think that makes for a fairly well balanced system. What's the total cost?
Re: New Build - Overkill for general use and gaming?
Similar system to mine, I wouldnt call mine overkill...
I wouldnt go with that SSD though. There have been numerous firmware errors reported on the V200, which have been causing huge drops in speed (down to around 150MB/s - near HDD speeds).
Scan have an offer on the HyperX (http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120gb...mb-s-85k-iops-). Its well worth the extra cash IMO.
Re: New Build - Overkill for general use and gaming?
Very balanced system . Good choice!
If you have money , 7950 is a great card . You could play all games 1080p high settings .
Re: New Build - Overkill for general use and gaming?
7950 is better ofc but both cards have great OC ability.
Re: New Build - Overkill for general use and gaming?
Too late everything was purchased last week , its all up and running :). As for the ssd it was on offer on overclockers.co.uk for £60 so can't really complain, and it been working fine. In total I spent just under £600 but reusing my psu and seling my old GPU.
Re: New Build - Overkill for general use and gaming?
that kingston hyperx ssd is tempting as a game drive. Should I? lol
Re: New Build - Overkill for general use and gaming?
If 120GB/240GB is big enough for your then why not :)
If your going to get the 120GB (same size as your V200), I would use the HyperX as your boot drive & the V200 as your game drive.
Re: New Build - Overkill for general use and gaming?
Definitely not overkill. It's a good enough system for today's standards. And the games are getting quite heavy. I think you'll be able to play all the latest games easily with this rig :)
Re: New Build - Overkill for general use and gaming?
Heard a lot of people suggesting the samsung 830 or the M4 is there a real world difference between these two and the kingston hyperX?
Re: New Build - Overkill for general use and gaming?
I've got the 256Gb Samsung 830, & can definitely recommend it; the price has dropped by £50 since I bought mine back in May too :shocked2:
Scan have also had good deals on the Sandisk Extreme SSDs recently though...combines Sandforce with toggle flash, so pretty much best in class performance.
Re: New Build - Overkill for general use and gaming?
The frio advanced wont cool as well as a dark rock of the same price range ;)
