Overkill for gaming and general use? Also toying with the idea of upgrading the GPU to 7950 due to the recent price drop

Similar system to mine, I wouldnt call mine overkill...

I wouldnt go with that SSD though. There have been numerous firmware errors reported on the V200, which have been causing huge drops in speed (down to around 150MB/s - near HDD speeds).
Scan have an offer on the HyperX (http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120gb...mb-s-85k-iops-). Its well worth the extra cash IMO.

Very balanced system . Good choice!

If you have money , 7950 is a great card . You could play all games 1080p high settings .

Too late everything was purchased last week , its all up and running . As for the ssd it was on offer on overclockers.co.uk for £60 so can't really complain, and it been working fine. In total I spent just under £600 but reusing my psu and seling my old GPU.

If 120GB/240GB is big enough for your then why not

If your going to get the 120GB (same size as your V200), I would use the HyperX as your boot drive & the V200 as your game drive.

Definitely not overkill. It's a good enough system for today's standards. And the games are getting quite heavy. I think you'll be able to play all the latest games easily with this rig

Heard a lot of people suggesting the samsung 830 or the M4 is there a real world difference between these two and the kingston hyperX?

I've got the 256Gb Samsung 830, & can definitely recommend it; the price has dropped by £50 since I bought mine back in May too

Scan have also had good deals on the Sandisk Extreme SSDs recently though...combines Sandforce with toggle flash, so pretty much best in class performance.

The frio advanced wont cool as well as a dark rock of the same price range
