Question Looking for some feedback on my first build - Budget ~1500$

So I'm getting my very first windows computer and I'm planning on building it myself. I have researched a lot in the past couple of months and all the hardware I've decided is entirely based on reviews and opinions. I am curios when it comes to a couple of things.

This is what I have put together:
    Intel Core i5 4670K
    Asus GTX 780 OC
    Define R4 with window
    Asus DVD writer DRW-24F1ST
    Asus Maximus Vi Hero
G.Skill Ripjaws (or Ares, haven't decided just yet) 2x4 GB 1866mhz
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo
    Western Digital Blue 1TB
    XFX Proseries 650W 80+ bronze
    Asus VE248H 24"
    Microsoft Windows 8.1

Sorry for not linking, but apparently you can't do that as a new user on the Hexus.net forums!

I'm unsure whether i should get a GTX 780 or a 290 from AMD. The 290 is a bit cheaper where I live, but the 780 comes with the custom cooler from ASUS which i've come to like quite a lot.

Another concern I have is the PSU. I haven't heard much about the XFX brand, but I've read some good reviews.. What do you guys think?

Also, one of my friends recommended me to get a PCI-E networking adaptor (I believe that what it's called), but i'm unsure which one to go for. I would love a recommendation!

    Where do you live?

What make is the 290? What is the difference in price?
    XFX are fine for PSUs.

I'm currently located in Denmark and I think I will buy everything from danish vendors.

The GTX 780 OC from Asus the currently the cheapest 780 here. It's price is ~14% higher than a 290 with reference design.

I guess I will pick up the XFX PSU then

+1 for the XFX PSU - iirc its a Seasonic so you can't go wrong.

The build looks solid but I've fallen a bit behind recently so I'm sure CAT or someone else will be along shortly with more details for you

    Oh and welcome to Hexus

    Thanks a lot!

Should i go with the modular one or just stick to the non-modular model? Both is 650Watt and and price difference is only about 7%!

It's a question of preference, rather than performance. Non-modular means you'll have to tuck away all the cables you don't need into the case somewhere, modular means you can just not plug those in and keep them in the PSU box outside of the PC.

For the sake of airflow and general neatness, I tend to prefer modular, but it's your call.

The motherboard is expensive for what it is - you can do with a cheaper one. 1600MHZ RAM is fine,so get it if it is cheaper.

I would probably go for a better cooler if you are pushing the overclock on the Core i5 4670K.

The HDD is relatively slow. I would consider getting an SSD as a boot drive or at the very least a 7200RPM hard drive.

There are custom cooled R9 290 cards out ATM,and they appear to be slightly cheaper for the Asus models:

It seems they will be in stock in the next two weeks.

    However,I would consider looking at a R9 280X or GTX770 too,as you are gaming at 1920X1080.

Oops! I was thinking of the laptop ones. However, there are different versions at the same capacities for desktop drives. They differ in the amount of cache they use.
