    £470 Gaming Build

    Hi All,

Been a good while, been asked to build a £470 gaming rig, been a good while since i last built a rig so was looking for a few pointers.

    Had in mind :

    AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor

MSI 970A SLI Krait Edition ATX AM3+ Motherboard

    Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory

Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

    PowerColor Radeon R9 380 4GB PCS+ Video Card

NZXT Source 220 ATX Mid Tower Case

EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

    Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer

Can get these for around the £500 mark, but got till X-mas so can buy bits on offers.

    Any help appreciated.

That's an expensive motherboard for a tight budget. Unless that was a requirement I'd be tempted to swap it for something that might make a bigger impact like an SSD.

My thoughts excactly you can buy one quite cheaply on scan - Patriot BLAST 120GB SSD only £32.70

    Re: £470 Gaming Build

If you are intending to overclock the CPU get a reasonable 970 based motherboard. I would also go for the PSU and even the Intel alternatives in this post I made earlier:

    Re: £470 Gaming Build

I'd agree with the others here, scrap the DVD drive, add an SSD.

If an optical drive is actually required, i'd suggest these days getting a USB one, as it'll likely be the last one you buy and also you can move it to new PCs easily.
