Hi,
No it is not, the DRAM Voltage on the 3xs overclock profile is set to Auto. I can either change this to 1.60v or 1.70v, I cant use 1.65v as you emailed me.
Everything on the 3xs profile is the same appart from..
DRAM Voltage
Loadline Calibration
CPU Spread Spectrum
PCIE Spread Spectrum
Shall I try and run the settings you emailed me, and use 1.60v for the DRAM?
Hi Simon
Leave the Ram Voltage on Auto this should ramp it up to the 1.65 it needs, 1.7 could be too much and 1.6 may be a bit low
Test with these settings and let us know how you get on

Ben
Hey Ben,
I changed the Loadline Calibration, CPU Spread Spectrum and PCIE Spread Spectrum to Auto, the setting you emailed me. I left the DRAM Voltage on Auto.
I cannot find the "Overspeed Protection" option anywhere.
Ill let you know how it goes.

Left the system on overnight, unfortunately it crashed at some point. Back to using the Standard-3xs profile
Hi Simon
Can you confirm if you have backed up your data and used Acronis to restore it back to the factory state, this will eliminate the issue being a software issue, we have had a number of systems recently where customers have been using free antivirus software which has caused issues on overclocked systems...
Once you have reloaded the system if you are having the same issue we will arrange to collect the system and look at the overclocking issue here

Hi Ben,
Unfortunately, the Acronis Software was not included with my 3xs system, I have also not yet created a backup of my data. But I do have an external hard drive and can create a backup, although I do not have anything on the system yet which is important or cannot just be reinstalled.
After creating a backup, how would I restore the PC to its factory settings? Do I need Acronis to do this? I have looked at Windows 7 restore options and the furthest back I can go is the 14th of Jan, this is after I noticed the problems, which began almost immediately after receiving the system.
I have not installed any free anti-virus software on the system, as a brought Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 when I purchased the system, which I believe came pre-installed.
Hi Simon,
I have checked your invoice and you have not purchased Acronis with the system so there will be no backup image to restore from. The only way is to use the Windows 7 CD to reinstall, but its best to download the drivers for the motherboard from the Asus website and store this on the non operating system drive.

Sanjay
Thanks Sanjay,
When I have time I will do a complete reinstall on windows and let you know if the problem persists.
Hi Simon
Did you get around to a fresh install of windows and if so has it resolved the issue?
Regards
Ben
Hi ben,
Yes I have now done a fresh install of windows 7, but unfortunately it hasn't fixed the problem, and is still crashing when I try to use the overclocked profile.
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, I've been working alot of hours the last few weeks.
Im prepared to send the system back for you guys to look at, if thats the best way forward.
Hi Simon
I have emailed you through our query system, please respond to this and we will action an RMA for the system and look at it here for you
Please backup any data prior to returning the system
Regards
Ben
Hi Simon
**UPDATE**
System received in repairs yesterday afternoon
Reloaded Overclock
Tested with Assassins Creed for at least 2 hours
left running the Resident Evil DX10 Benchmark overnight
System still running the benchmark up till about 10 mins ago not had a single crash or blue screen as yet
System is going on Memtest for the rest of the day and will be put on Prime 95 over the weekend
Regards
Ben
Hi Ben,
That sounds good thanks! Is it the exact same overclock setup as what I was using?
Is there any chance it could be a problem when it idles (even with the power saving settings as recommended) as it mostly crashed when left and not being used.
I also noticed that windows was strangely detecting 3-4 other external hard drives (all 0GB in size) when nothing was plugged in. If you've reinstalled windows this might have been fixed.
Thanks
Simon
Hi Simon
We havent reinstalled Windows it is as it was when it left you.
The Unknown drives are the Card reader drives as there are no cards in them they show as 0 bytes

Ben
Hi Ben,
Hopefully we’ll find the system has been fine all weekend tomorrow morning.
I did reinstall windows a second time a few days before it was collected, and didn’t think to try the overclock again, as it failed the first time I used it on the first fresh install of windows. I think I may have forgotten to set the power saving settings (for stability) the second time as well, which you might have realised.
It’s strange how I never noticed the unknown drives for the card reader before the second install, should I have installed drivers for the card reader maybe? Or are they normally there and I just failed to notice.
Also, if you restart the system, you may notice a USB error pop up when windows starts up saying there is an unknown devise attached, although this doesn’t seem to affect anything and all the USB ports work as usual.
