New system - a few issues
Hi,
I have used my build number in the "Order number" field.
I have just received my new 3xs system today. Thank you for all the work you have put into it. I am very pleased with the computer however there are some issues:
1) The big fan on the top of the case is not working. It doesn't move at all. Should it always move or only when the system requires it? Anyway, when I turn on the PC, the fan doesn't move.
2) The wireless card doesn't work. ( http://yfrog.com/0ucapturevnp ) On the back the led lights of the card are off and I can't connect to the internet. The card doesn't appear listed in the "device manager". FYI: The one thing that I did with the card is I have screwed on it the 3 antennas.
3) When I boot the system, it does load windows as it should; however, I have noticed some weird text during the boot process and I am wondering if I should be worried. The text says "No hard disk is detected". Screenshot here: http://yfrog.com/6zimg0724ebj
These issues where present as soon as I turned on the PC for the first time after I took it out of the box. I have not installed new software or hardware.
I would be grateful for some help with these issues.
Thank you in advance for your time.
Re: New system - a few issues
On point No.3 mine says the same thing, I think its to do with RAID or something, dont worry about it, its normal :)

Re: New system - a few issues
Your fan may have disconnected from the fan connector due to all the packaging within the case. I remember one of my fans not working and I simply had to plug it back in.
I also get the identical message for point 3. It must be the RAID setup as mentioned.
Re: New system - a few issues
i think scan put in the cables for an additional hard disc if you want one thats why it says disc not detected, the other two just need connecting
Re: New system - a few issues
Thanks a lot for your replies.
You are correct about the hard disk message and also that I shouldn't worry about it.
I have received a reply from scan support (Sanjay) today. You might be interested in knowing what he said:
"...if you connect a drive to the E-SATA port then it will recognise a drive connected, otherwise it will say no hard disk...."
With regards to the top 200mm fan (Antec 900 case), it was connected to the motherboard and I could not see any other problem. I tried disconnecting it and reconnecting it again but no luck. So I disconnected it from the motherboard and connected it directly to a power cable from the psu. The fan now works.
With regards to the Edimax wireless PCI card, as Sanjay suggested, I removed it from the motherboard and installed it again. It got probably a bit loose from the travel. Anyway, the card is now working and I can finally connect to the internet.
My beast of a system is finally 100% functional.
Thank you Scan, Paul, Philip, Sanjay and anybody else involved in building my computer.
Thanks also for the help in this thread guys.
