Yep - another 4-5 hours in the bag without reboot; seems the speed step/overclock combo might well be a factor.
Have you heard of this from anyone else?!

:/ damn.
Well... much as I hate to say it; my PC now restarts even out of Witcher 2. It occurs when an embedded video plays in a web browser (e.g. those adverts that run when you're on Wiki pages). I've even had it mid-way through typing a hotmail email.
Surely I'm not the only user with the P8P67-m/FT03/i5-2500k @ 4.7 to notice this?!
I can downclock the pc (following advice in these forums); but it's missing the point a bit....
Is it just a problem with Asus boards? Is this 0702 bios revision the issue?
Other than my cpu fan (upgraded) and PSU (upgraded) the PC is the same as the standard spec.

Hi Jon
Can you confirm what the idle CPU temps are and also the under load in Prime 95 please
I will check with Asus on Monday and see if they can help with maybe a beta bios as we got one for the P67 Pro that sorted a load of issues out last week
Drop us an email with your Query number ,Invoice or Build number to systemsupport@scan.co.uk and we will check the exact spec and pass it onto Asus
Regards
Ben
Ticket submitted - thanks.
Temps are 32oC idle; stressed the 4 cores run between 70 to 78.
Reboots only occur when the PC is doing something seemingly "low effort"; e.g. playing embedded web vids, or as mentioned, game menus. There's some web posts that point to speedstep voltage reduction/offset but I've not seen anything concrete from Asus in my web trawling

Hi Jon
Temps all look fine have you any errors in the event logs maybe relating to a hard disk?
Regards
Ben
Nothing in the event logs about the hard disk, no; and there's no BSOD when the problem occurs.
Just a kernel41 error relating to the power loss that occurs on reboot.
Just to say, ran memtest86+ on the 4.2 oc and no errors came up. Not sure if I should have run it on a higher speed setting but I'm not sure if it makes a difference.
Hi John
If Memtest has passed and there are no warnings in event log it may well be driver related or maybe a software conflict
Can you check if there are any current Minidumps in C:\Windows\Minidumps and email them to systemsupport@scan.co.uk for us to look at
Regards
Ben
There are no mini-dump files created that I can see, following Rob's advice in my other thread.
Would it not be a bit strange to have a driver problem resolve itself at lower overclocks, or at higher overclock but with speedstep turned off? It'd be cool if it was just an update I needed tbh!
It still feels as though it's the overclock voltage at idle to me.. albeit I've no idea how to resolve that.
Use System Failure Settings to Stop Automatic Restarts.
1. Click Start and Open the Control Panel
2. Go to System and Maintenance, Click on System.
3. Select Advanced System Settings and choose Advance tab.
4. Under Startup and Recovery, click on Settings.
5. Under System failure uncheck Automatically restart.
Hi Jon
Did you manage to get any minidumps to send into us to checkout?
Regards
Ben
Try this program a program called whocrashed
to analyse your crashdumps
very easy to use.
hiya again.
Well; I've managed to re-create the problem again. Even with automatic restart disabled, the computer reboots itself. There are no minidump files created in the process. I've searched for .dmp files from today, and I've looked specifically in the Windows directory for a file called memory.dmp (which is the location I've specified in the advanced options).
Hi Jon,
As discussed, a new board will be set up on a test bench tomorrow morning. Once I'm happy the same problems are not occurring on this board with the overclock, we can arrange to collect your system and swap the board for you.
I've outlined a few further points in the query you logged with us, and I'll let you know how things are progressing!
Regards,
Rob @ Scan
Thanks Rob.
I dropped through a note with some extra details. The C1E setting didn't seem to help unfortunately. Also - I can trigger the same problem in the new Deus Ex game (the training videos seem to do it); on an admittedly short evening test de-activating speedstep again seems to solve the problem.
Cheers
Cheers Jon,
Got your mail today, We're going to load up some of the games you suggested tomorrow and do a good bit of testing. Hopefully we won't see the same problems on this board!
It's passed the 100% load tests at 4.7 overnight and memtest passed fine.
Will keep you updated. Thanks for trying my suggestions aswell!
