    Gigabyte Z68-Ud4 and SSD

Hi just a quick question about my new SSD on a Gigabyte Z68-UD4 Edge Bundle

I have PCH SATA Control mode set to AHCI , my question is should i have eSATA3 Ctrl Mode set to AHCI also or leave it on IDE ?

Note , i have installed win 7 with PCH SATA / AHCI enabled , if i DO need the eSATA Ctrl on AHCI do i need to reinstall windows/reg hack or will it function correctly as i have previously installed the OS with PCH / AHCI enabled ?

    Thanks Lee

    Hi Lee,

The eSATA control is for the connection of external drives on the rear panel eSATA port(s), so this will not affect your OS drive (or any other internal drives).

It's probably best to set it to AHCI as this will allow hot-swap, so you can connect a drive and have windows recognise it without rebooting.

    Regards,
    Rob
