BIOS Wiped on Z68 Radius Bundle

I received my Z68 Radius Bundle 3 days ago, and installed it without issue. Since then, it's been running great, until the dreaded Windows sleep mode kicked in today (I've always turned it off in the past). Unfortunately, today, the system failed to wake up from sleep and entered into a loop of failed restarts - when it came on again, it gave a message that due to the failures, it was retrieving the backup/emergency BIOS. Subsequently, all the profiles loaded by Scan have been wiped

I've heard about this issue on these very forums before, and I was wondering if someone could help me?

Temperatures have been great, the system itself rock-solid without even a single BSOD or crash in long gaming periods prior to this. Any help would be appreciated. I heard another user was sent the overclocking profiles to reload. That would be great! The build number is 36091.

    Thanks,

    Gino

Re: BIOS Wiped on Z68 Radius Bundle

it happened to me as well. first time the very first day after making partitions on my hdd, but fortunettly the profiles was there so i just loaded them. after couple of days it happened again and profiles was gone, so i emailed customer service and i recived bios setings to type manually. since then did not have any problems, maybe the person who set up bios forgot/did not notice some setings , which was causing emergency restores.

Re: BIOS Wiped on Z68 Radius Bundle

It's not Scan's fault, after some research I discovered it's a fairly common issue with Z68 Gigabyte motherboards and overclocks. It's not catastrophic, just a bit of a pain if you're overclocking

I posted the same problem through to technical support too, so hopefully I should hear something back soon. I just thought if I brought it to both places, I'd have double the chance of it being seen, haha.

    Hi

If its a dual bios Gigabyte board try pressing Alt and F12 as it boots and switch to the other bios as it may have swapped them over and the backup bios is default settings

    Regards

    Ben

No joy with that method - the only options were boot order, boot device, and copy the current BIOS as the emergency backup BIOS, but the current BIOS was loaded from the emergency backup anyway, so the settings are identical.

    Hi again,

Any chance this is still being looked into? It's been 3 days since I first posted the problem with system support. Thanks

Re: BIOS Wiped on Z68 Radius Bundle

This is the same problem I've been experiencing since Day 3 of receiving my system.

After weeks of troubleshooting, Scan picked up my system and then reset the BIOS settings before sending back to me. Luckily, I requested a setup because as soon as the NetSolve guy tried to fire up the system it immediately was stuck in the Boot loop before wiping my BIOS profiles as well. I've now sent it back.

It's a good thing if more people report this problem (I have a Z68 motherboard) as well. I'm sure I read someone else experiencing the same issue. Maybe it's time Scan changed the motherboard for something that is more stable with overclocking.

Well hopefully they can just send me the settings I'm quite comfortable fiddling around in the BIOS to load them, and once I have them I can personally deal with the problem if it ever happens again, saving everyone time and effort!

They did the same for me, but it kept happening so I presumed when sending it back they would fiddle with it to make it stable.

What's the setup of your system? If it's not far off from mine and you manage to make it stable then I may have to resort to this OR it may be useful for them to know.

Re: BIOS Wiped on Z68 Radius Bundle

Had the settings emailed to me, thanks guys, you rock! Up and running again, temps good.

And YaoNG, the problems began with sleep mode and hard resets - it's a well known issue with overclocking on Z68 motherboards. Disable sleep mode and don't use your reset button to reset, and you should see it less and less
