Hi
Really chuffed with my new system.
However, in my build a few fan vents have been left unused and I am concerned about excess dust penetration into the system, I have the CM Elite 430 case.
Your thread about system you have had back with this problem and indeed my own experiences with regularly having to clear out my old system have prompted me this time to take extra measures to guard against the problem as much as is possible.
With this in mind I purchased three Silverstone 120mm magnetic dust filters and applied them to the top two and one rear vent on the outside of the case.
I booted the system and noticed the cooling fan over the CPU heatsink was running rather quicker than normal as it was quite audible.
I went into the BIOS and noticed it was running about 2100 rpm whereas normally it runs about 1712.
I also noticed the system temp had increased from a steady 35C to 40C.
I removed the filters and the temperature dropped back down.
It would appear that the heat dissipation requires that these are completely open, is that correct or is there an issue?
