    Graphics Driver Issues

I recently got my new laptop and I'm absolutely loving it. However, I have had problems when I tried to update the graphics drivers. Upon installing the HD7970m Windows 7 drivers from the Clevo website (European drivers for model P150EM, which I believe is the match for my machine) I found that CCC would no longer open. To make matters worse, the switchable graphics were no longer asking me to assign them and doing it itself very poorly. After some hassle (I would strongly recommend against using the AMD Catalyst uninstall utility) I am back to the ones that came on the driver disc, but would love to update to 13.1.

So does anyone out there with an LG10 7970m model know where I can get the right drivers from.

    Re: Graphics Driver Issues

    Hi Ben,

Thanks but that was the first thing I tried. Upon retesting it I found the same message as before.

"AMD Catalyst Mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on your computer.

The version of your graphics adapter is not supported.

Please contact your notebook manufacturer for a graphics driver update."

This is why I tried the Clevo ones, which at least installed but worked horrendously poorly.

Hi I have a similar problem, I have tried driver sweepers, original drivers, 13.2.7 beta drivers etc... I have also re installed all the Intel drivers etc... I keep getting the error:

Catalyst control centre cannot be started There are no settings that can be configured.

this is a major improvement over the crashes I was getting a few days ago though. I had installed the Beta drivers and initially everything was excellent and better than the factory set up as regards adjusting profiles etc... Then all of a sudden its like there is a broken link with the Intel/ATI set up

I am currently working overseas and will be on a boat soon with no internet so I could do with help whilst I have hotel WiFi! I don't have my Invoice numbers etc... to hand.

What Drivers did you eventually use?

    Thanks!

    Dougie Todd

    Re: Graphics Driver Issues

I had the similar problems with my LG10 SPECIAL EDITION (7970m) after trying to update the ATI drivers from ATI's site (Clevo ones are a bit older and missing a couple of features/optimizations):

I either had catalyst working ok but then if it crashed once it would no longer start (even after rebooting and reinstalling Intel and ATI drivers or it would randomly come up with an application host error having been working for a number of hours and reboots... Sometimes games would run fine but I had no switchable graphics options, no Intel options and no CCC to set up profiles.

I had asked for help on this thread but although subscribed I cannot see the post!?!

Anyway I could not get the system to run correctly for a good day or so - it would work ok after some driver re installs then crash and burn each time.

If it helps anyone else I seem to have fixed the problem by:

    * Uninstalling all the Intel drivers for graphics
    * Uninstalling Intel management engine components
    * Uninstalling all the ATI drivers
    * Using "Driver Fusion" to sweep up the remnants
    * Install the Clevo based ATI Windows 8 Driver from the Clevo Drivers portal
    * Install the WDDM official 13.1 catalyst mobility driver from ATI's website

Its worth noting that catalyst 13.2 Beta 7 Drivers did work initially on the system but then seemed to crash it after running a couple of games and a few re-boots. This happened on a few occasions so must be the beta drivers.

I read somewhere that Intel drivers that are installed as part of the Clevo ATI package and are signed by ATI and if you use separate Intel drivers from Intel's site then this causes problems because they are obviously signed by Intel not ATI. I don't know enough about or even care about these things to argue , I just want my Laptop working!!! But not having the Intel drivers on the laptop and just using the ATI drivers in the order above seems to work and either Windows or the AMD installer seemed to install Intel drivers for the Intel HD 4000 anyway and give me back my switchable graphics. Management components has also magically re-appeared... (my guess is windows has re installed these correctly)

13.3 Beta 2 drivers did not work at all on my system causing the card to have no applicable drivers although the install manager said that the install was a success.

I hope this helps anyone else with similar issues.

    Re: Graphics Driver Issues

    Hi niro750

If you get any more issues You need to download the Ati Radeon Mobility 13.1 driver , it has to be the driver download not the utility , unfortunately I have the link at work so can't add the definite one here but Zirc may be able to post the link maybe?
If not I will look into this tomorrow, let me know if you need the link?

    Regards

    Ben

    Re: Graphics Driver Issues

    Hi niro,

I can't quite post the driver link as it is a URL and I'm not allowed to do that until I've posted more, so you may have tou use some common sense and piece it back together. Basically there is a space in it which wouldn't be there.

The drivers I'm using are found at http://www2.ati.com/DriverS/mobile/1...d_ccc_whql.exe

    I hope that helps
