    Upgrading

I am thinking about upgrading my 3XS Z77 Performance GTX.
I want to SLI the Evga GTX 680 that is currently in the system. But I am wondering if my PSU will be up to the job. Its a Corsair TX650M ENTHUSIAST 650W PSU Would like to know if Ben and the guys at scan think that this PSU will be up to the task of running SLI.

Tx650m only has 2 pcie Power plugs, if it had the 4 you'll need I'd say the power would be marginal anyway.

    Re: Upgrading

    Hi Vaad

You would need a bigger PSU for 2 x 680s maybe a 800 watt or higher would be a more realistic option

    Regards

    Ben

    Re: Upgrading

I reckon you can get away with 700-800W but 650W seems a bit borderline. Although you can use PCI-E adapters try to get a PSU with at least 2x 6+2PCI and 2x 6 pci (4 total).
I recommend the XFX Black 750W / Seasonic 750W or a Corsair HX / AX unit. BeQuiet also make some pretty nice PSU's but worth checking reviews. For me 5v/12v rail stability and low noise levels were the priority. Most come with a 5 or 7 year warranty so I recommend don't skimp and consider it an investment.
