    3XS Z87 Vengeance 780 Upgrade - EVGA GTX 1070 FTW

    Hi,

    I am thinking about upgrading my 2013 Scan 3XS Z87 Vengeance 780

There are two things I am thinking about
    - Upgrading the Graphics card from GTX 780 SC ACX (with scan OC) to a EVGA GTX 1070 FTW card
    - Increasing the RAM to 16gb

I was wondering if the CX600M that is currently installed in my rig would run the new graphics card (I can see the spare +2 pin) <- judging by the internet it should be fine
    - I will probably run the FTW at stock considering that it boosts itself fairly easily

Will the new FTW EVGA card have the recent themal repair from EVGA? - Again judging by the internet it should

Also would I be ok purchasing 2 x 4GB and inserting them into the free RAM slots - or should I completely replace the old RAM with 2 x 8GB RAM (Corsair vengeance DDR3 LP)
    - The internet suggests that 2 sticks in dual channel is the best but you can use 4 sticks in dual channel.

    Thanks in advance

    mrsqueezy.

For the GTX 1070 upgrade, the 600W PSU is going to be ideal as nvidia state that a 500W is required for such a card.

As for the RAM quandary, what I advise is that if the system is heavily overclocked and you wish to keep the OC as it is and stable, its best to use 2 slots out of the 4 for this as populating all 4 slots on the motherboard can put more strain on the memory controller, and as this is within the CPU this time around on the designs, it can increase the CPU temperatures.

    Best Regards,
