Post Power failure - Bios reset

    Hello
I recently purchased a new PC from Scan. It's running Vista 64bit. Recently I had a power failure in my house and when I rebooted the PC the bios had reset.

    My PC has 4 drive,
    2 in a RAID 0 and
    2 in RAID 1
If you need more info I will have to get the build number from home.

So I had to reconfigure the bios to get the PC to boot up correctly. Problem is I have no idea what other settings Scan set during the build and I don't even think to do a bios backup as I have never had a bios failure if 20 years of using a PC's.

Scan, as part of you build process, do you backup the bias setting anywhere? Alternatively, do you have a copy of the setting if I give you the build number?

I'm having a nightmare with the sleep mode or more importantly bring the PC back out of sleep mode, I can get it work. When the PC goes into sleep, a little time after that the fans seem to start up in full warp mode but the screen are blank. I have no choice other than powering off the PC.

    Thanks for your help.

Re: Power failure - Bios reset

    Two simple questions...

    1. Have you got Surge Protection?
    2. Was the PC running at the time of the power surge?

A power surge can short out the battery on the motherboard, which would cause the BIOS to reset the BIOS settings back to factory state before they were reconfigured. Unfortunately in situations like these, you have to trouble shoot.

I would suggest strongly speaking to SCAN technical support, they a great bunch of guys, and should be able to resolve this for you. Hope you resolve this.
