    Logitech mx3200 keyboard problem

    Hi All,
Just got my new system, looks a beast, but cant get keyboard to work, any help greatly appreciated......

As part of the purchase I included a Logitech MX3200 Cordless Desktop - I cannot get the keyboard to work, please see details of the problem below. As you can imagine it is restricting to say the least!

Problem with Logitech MX3200 Cordless desktop. I install the usb mini receiver directly into usb port of my scan 3xs [have tried top right port on top of case, although this results in restricted access to the connect button on the mini receiver, and also the top left port at rear, both directly and via the usb stand] and whilst the mouse works, the keyboard is a different matter. The keyboard and mini receiver connections appear to be made aok, BUT the only key that i can get to work is the 'stand by' ket located at the top right of the keyboard. This indeed puts the pc into energy saving mode, and in turn brings it out of this mode. I assume this proves the usb connection. None of the A-Z keys work - indeed I havent found any other key to work at all. Ok - the lcd functions keys work but that only handles the display on the keyboard. I have not yet loaded logitech s/w setpoint v3.3e which came with the cordless desktop, Also my router is adjacent, but I have no real alternative at the moment.

    Thanks.

    Re: Logitech mx3200 keyboard problem

I guess the keyboard has became unsecured. The way to resolve this is to install the software and make sure the keyboard is shown within Setpoint.

In Windows, double-click the SetPoint icon in the system tray. Alternatively bring this up by going into Control Panel, opening the Keyboard applet, and then choosing the SetPoint Settings tab

In SetPoint, click the tab that says "My Keyboard" (along the top), then choose the tab called Keyboard Connection (along the left side) - it looks like a radiating antenna.

Click the button labelled "Secure" and go though the procedure to secure your keyboard.

I cant post links so add a http to this

    Re: Logitech mx3200 keyboard problem

    Hi

We just got one of the keyboards out of stock.

We tried the USB stick and keyboard worked fine after you press the Red Connect button on both devices. This is without installing any software on the system.

You can also try some other batteries there should be 4 in the keyboard and 2 in the mouse.

When you plugged the wireless adapter to the back of the system did Windows detect it and then install the drivers automatically?

If its still the same and you cant get the keyboard to work then we can swap it for the one we have got here that is tested and working.

    Regards

    Ben

    Re: Logitech mx3200 keyboard problem

I did press the red connect button on both devices with virtually no time gap between. Yes,the drivers were installed automatically when I plugged in the wireless adapter. I have not loaded any logitech setpoint s/w as yet although the logitech support site does suggest this if mouse works ok and only part of the keyboard. I have used the 6 batteries as supplied in the retail box, 4 in keyboard, 2 in mouse!!!

also i have tried 4 brand new batteries - same result. If the standby key works but nothing else then surely it means that the usb connection is good. Maybe the keyboard has become unsecured and i do have to go through the setpoint s/w ?
If so, why does your kboard work out of the box?

I would like to try a replacement kboard b4 i install any s/w on the system which [apart from the aforementioned usb drivers being auto installed is as it left you afyter the build]. I am dying to get things moving!

    Thanks

    Re: Logitech mx3200 keyboard problem

From browsing around the web it looks like the keyboard and receiver are linked and secured by logitech before packing.

If the standby key works, then that indicates that the keyboard and receiver were secured at the factory. Due to packing, shipping, and other movement, the keyboard became unsecured.
As before add the http to make a web url

    Re: Logitech mx3200 keyboard problem

    Hi Recon,

Thanks for your replies, I am sure you are right but what I hadnt seen was the suggestion that the kboard may somehow have become unsecured during packaging or transit? This potentially explains why the mx3200 at scan works but mine doesnt [although there is obviously transit involved for it to get to scan!]. Maybe I am just unlucky - what I would like to do though is get mine replaced by the currently working one at scan to sort of prove this theory before i go down the road of installing setpoint s/w. There is a problem with this though as it involves waiting even longer to get my hands the new scan system I have bought!

I jyst wqant ot know that the kboard works out of the box on my system - thats all!

    Thanks again

    Re: Logitech mx3200 keyboard problem

    Hi Recon et All

    A small P.S !

My understanding of the statement "the keyboard became unsecured" is that the keyboard is still encrypting the normal keys, but the receiver isn't set to decrypt them. If this is true then doesnt it mean that I have to install setpoint to reactivate secure mode. My question is ... if the keyboard had worked directly out of the box, it would have been working in secure mode dy default wouldnt it?

    Do you agree?

    Thanks

    Re: Logitech mx3200 keyboard problem

    Agree

    Keyboard normally ships secured

Yours at some point has lost the secure connection
Setpoint is needed to re secure the link

That is my understanding of the problem
