    Custom side window?

    Hi,

3 years ago I struggled to decide between Kobalt and Scan for my new pc and in the end went with kobalt because scan wern't offering watercooled graphics cards on their new system at the time I wanted to order. Been very happy with my kobalt system but with dx11 and windows 7 just a couple of months away it's time to start thinking about a new system and once again the choice is between scan and kobalt. You both have great customer service and with scan you clearly get more for your money. However while scan make some beutiful systems there seems to be more customisation looks wise at kobalt.

I particually like this Lian Li case with a custom cut window.

    http://www.kobaltcomputers.co.uk/apa...8_overview.php

Do scan offer the ability to have a custom cut window like this? do you offer this case and the ability to have a water cooled system in it? what water cooling options are there? do you just water cool the cpu and graphics card? or do you offer the ability to water cool the chipset too? I think it's the chipset fans that produce the most ammount of noise in my current kobalt but they now offer chipset water cooling which is appealing.

I'll be looking to spend about £3k exactly and expect to buy in November.

    Thanks
    Tim

    Hello Noggin

Scan do offer a laser cutting service

Found ref to it in this thread

you have opted for a none windowed case, we can do some laser cutting if you like
Laser cutting depends on the complexity of the image, but you’re looking about £100-200

    Hope that helps

    Re: Custom side window?

    Hi Tim,

    Sorry for the late reply.
We can arrange a custom design cut into a side panel of most cases.
If you can create the design in Adobe illustrator it helps if not and you can come up with a picture maybe our creative dept can work with us on it.

Regarding the watercooling we can pretty much watercool anything you require.
If you would prefer something that isnt listed on the 3XS Systems site we will help create your own personal work of art.

Just drop us a line or send me a PM and I'll work with the sales team to help make it happen.

    Re: Custom side window?

Thanks to both of you, great news, £100-200 is a little expensive but it means scan can compete aesthetically with kobalt and still win on price, I'll ring up to discuss further as soon as the dx11 cards and windows 7 arrive.

One more question if I may, I've already ordered windows 7 since there was a £40 or so preorder (from another retailer). Will I be able to send the discs to scan (or the cd-key if thats all thats needed) and have scan install the OS when building? or would I have to buy with no OS and do it myself?

Afraid I'm not particually talented artistically, havn't really decided what I want yet either, hopefully I can find something good on the internet, maybe a dragon, an angel or a lizard. I loved the scans chamelon logo, not sure how that would look as a cut out. I very nearly brought that chamelon pc last time but in the end went with kobalt.

Win7 will have a activation period the same as vista and xp. If you let us know when the order is placed what OS you have then we can install, update and test with it in trail mode.

Then upon receiving the system you can just input your own key and hit activate.

    Re: Custom side window?

perfect ty, I found a decent place for side window pictures too istockphoto.com you have to pay about £5 or £10 for the image but thats not much to pay for someones hard work really and it's much better than trying to find something with google that wasn't going that well, lots of them come as adobe illiistrator files too.

Thousands of vector drawings of lizards, dragons, eagles, all sorts of things that would be cool on a case.

    This for instance is cool

    http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-ill...ing-dragon.php

looks good with most the detail taken away as a silohette too which is obviously more how it would be on a case.

    and one of these
