3xs System deserves HD - halp

Hi all, Ive had my 3xs system a while.

Im running a 295 XFX 1772 MB graphics card on my i7 system with 6 gig o ram and plenty of flashy lights.

However, Its time I went HD.

Im currently using a cheap o 19 inch monitor which is fine but its not HD.

My budget is 120-160, I will only go further if its really needed.

First of all, what monitor size would you recommend for my graphics card? And what monitor is going to be the best choice for my tight budget?

    Cheers!!!

120-160 is not much budget. With your spec you really should be looking at 30" monitors at 1000+. Anything under 24" will be wasting all the processing power your 3XS system have. There are plenty of 24" monitors within your price range (check HUKD for Dell 24" deals which comes on every now and then).
    Workstation 1: Intel i7 950 @ 3.8Ghz / X58 / 12GB DDR3-1600 / HD4870 512MB / Antec P180

Re: 3xs System deserves HD - halp

Yeah, I'd go for either a 1920x1200 24" or 2560x1600 30", although obviously the 24" is much cheaper.

If you're looking for a 24" that's cheap (still an excellent monitor, but uses cheaper TN panel technology that doesn't reproduce colours as well - the vast majority of people use these), consider an SM2443BW, if you're looking for one that's great quality, consider the Dell U2410. When it comes to the 30", you're looking at a Dell 3007WFP (I think) or similar.

Obviously there are other options around those, but as points for price comparison I'd say they're fairly good to start with. Once you've decided which bracket you're in, you can get some more specific recommendations. I would personally take the cheaper TN option because I don't edit photos or whatever, and the size of the screen is far more important to me than whether it can give me a perfect real-life reproduction of a photograph, or look fantastic to watch films on.

Either way, your budget is too low imo, arthurleung was pretty spot on with his assessment.
