    3XS P55 performance query

    Hi all.

This is my first post on the forums, and I'm not a particularly technical guy, so forgive the basic nature of my question.

I have recently ordered the 3XS P55 OC computer from Scan, and I went for the default selection, the key items being I think the overclocked i5 750, 4gb of ram, and the gtx 275. My old computer (2.5 years old) is a E6700, with 2gb of ram and a 9800gt.

So my simple question is - what sort of performance upgrade can I expect? I mainly use my computer for gaming on 1900x1200 monitor. I keep trying to google various reviews of the graphics cards and things, but to be honest I don't fully understand what they're saying, especially as the reviews tend to focus on comparing the hardware with its peers (which makes sense, of course).

Could someone say in layman's terms the sort of performance upgrade I can expect? For example, I can currently play games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, FEAR etc on high-ish settings reasonably well, but with jerkiness and long load times and without those funky sounding things like anti-aliasing (or maybe 2x if i'm feeling brave).

I also note that framerates are always the thing that are mentioned - what's the easiest and safest way to measure these in a game? I'd like to make a note of what I achieve now, and what I achieve with my new system. Knowing such things would prob make me feel a bit better about sinking so much money on a new computer!

    Thanks in advance!

As for reviews, take a look at this:

    http://www.techspot.com/review/223-g...iew/page5.html

In terms of performance, the 4870 is along similar lines to the GTX 275, so you can see how the graphics difference will pan out. I know the review is of a GT 240, but the 9800 GT is included in the table along with 4870. I'm sure there are better examples out there, but that's what I've found after a couple of minutes' searching.

    Re: 3XS P55 performance query

I thought GTX 275 was similar to the 4890.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    durbs01,

The system will be far more responsive also you will see a huge difference in terms of performance and all round smoothness.

You can download a program called fraps that will measure and record the FPS of games

    Cheers

It is, but the 4890 isn't in that review... hence why I said "along similar lines" rather than "similar".
