Return to base generally means the system is returned to SCAN I believe

    Re: What dose rtb mean?

Yes, RTB (when referring to warranty) is a Return to Base warranty.

Can you explain how this usually works?

Is it where a customer would contact Scan get an RMA number and then Scan arrange a collection? Or is it up to the customer to arrange the courier for the item to be returned?

    Re: What dose rtb mean?

RTB is usual taken to mean the opposite on "onsite" where they come out to your place and repair the thing. As to who pays for getting the stuff back to the base, you'd have to ask in each instance. You'd expect the company to pay if the thing is found to be broken and in need of repair.

Thanks for that, I understood the difference between on site and RTB, but that doesn't answer my question. I have a friend that is looking at a new PC within the next 3 to 6 months, he can build but wants the peace of mind of a warranty and the doesn't want to get a standard off the shelf product so I have suggested a custom built gaming rig from Scan, but for this to make sense the warranty would need to be something that's not too awkward to deal with if anything goes wrong.

Now I am certain that Scan don't make arrangements on a case by case basis, they must have a policy in effect, it would be helpful to know roughly what the process is as my friend would be looking at the after sales support as the deciding factor when it comes to spending that much money.

I understand. What you want is a definitive answer from Scan about a known, but hypothetical case.

    Re: What dose rtb mean?

3XS Systems come with the 1yr Onsite plus additional year of Return to Base.

All parts and labour are covered for the full 2yr duration and into the second year, carriage costs are covered by the customer if the system needs to come back here.

Value Systems only have 1yr RTB and again, all parts and labour are covered, alongside the carriage costs of sending and returning the system.

    Hope this clarifies for you.

    All the best

Yes, that's exactly what I want. I've never bought a PC before so it's all new to me.

It does and I have already passed the information on, he is just waiting for Ivy bridge and his annual bonus at work to start spending his money.
