You're right on both counts Disturbedguy, deliveries are of course estimates and to ensure a good build it shouldn't be rushed. The problem is i was told verbally twice on the phone, "up to 10 days" and add to the fact that there has been no change to the order status online in a week now.
To be honest I dont care if it takes 2 months or 3 to build the PC just wish someone @ scan would tell me whats happening.
Quick update on the story so far... got this a few minutes ago and it has cheered me up so much... thats really all it takes

to me
Mr Christopher Dillon,
Thank you for placing your 3XS system order with Scan Computers.
Your paperwork for the 3XS system on order has now been passed to my department, and we are checking the whole order to make sure there is nothing out of stock that might delay the build of your system.
Please note the delivery time may be up to 10 working days. We will endeavour to build the system and have it dispatched as soon as possible.
We will let you know once we have checked the order of any stock issues and also advise when the system will be built and made available for dispatch.
Regards,
Scan Computers

Hey guys,
I ordered my system a week ago, along with a new monitor. Got the monitor on Tuesday, not one day delivery, but I expect that's DPDs fault because of Bank Holiday. Anyway, only got my Build Update this morning, with a dispatch date of 2 weeks from now. So like a 3 week turn around. It said in my email that they had a lot of systems on the go just now, and I'm sure they lost a few guys to GSL this week. I'm sure you will get your build update soon enough, and once the build has started it looks like you get an update on each stage of the build/testing process.
I've still had nothing from them. I'm guessing they priorities the highest spenders first, if they do that will be gutting
Well that would be awesome, I spent more than Chris! :-P pretty sure its done by when you ordered....... But who knows!
Wouldn't like to think they prioritise by price... but yeah who knows.
FYI I ordered on 06/04/2012 21:39.
I'm pretty sure it's by time, tho maybe if we whinge and threaten they will bump us up the queue. lol
no fair, i ordered on 04/04/2012 15:15!!!
I don't actually mind the wait, just means by Xbox gets to keep me occupied for longer!
First thing I would say guys is don't panic! I placed my order on the 16th of March on the understanding the graphics cards I chose at the time were provisional due to the imminent release of the NVidia 680, which turned out to be March 22nd. Sure enough on the day of release, I received a phone call to say my order had been updated with the new cards but unfortunately, the stock they received was nowhere near the amount they had ordered and so I was prepared for a bit of a wait until the second batch of cards arrived. I received regular emails about specific requirements I had for the build, mainly minor compatibility issues which were discussed and addressed when the build finally got underway on the 4th of April. I was made aware that there was a high workload prior to the build, along with the fact a Bank Holiday weekend was imminent and also they were busy with additional workloads for the Gadget Show. I received regular emails, almost daily, as the build, overclocking, testing, etc. progressed with the final email today (the 12th of April), which informed me my system was complete and fully tested to my requirements and I'm collecting it myself today, the 13th, as was my wish seeing how Scan are just down the motorway from where I live.
I have to say I can't fault the communication side of things with Scan and the salesperson (Jit) that has dealt with my order has been top notch. The Bank Holiday weekend fell right in the middle of my build so four days was lost there but I was away anyway, had it not been for that, the build completion would have been a least two days sooner. I didn't mind the build starting late because it gave me time to change certain components before it got underway. Once you receive your invoice and build number, you can track the progress of your build using the support page on the 3XS site and at the end, you are even given the results of the testing, 3D Mard 11 scores, etc.
My build was £4K plus so I don't believe any "queue jumping" takes place, I think it's simply down to availability of parts and Scans' workload scheduling. I hope my experience goes some way to alleviating anyones fears or concerns and I'm absolutely certain I made the right choice with Scan over the other custom builders out there, they certainly couldn't be beaten on price... :-)
Kind regards, Kieron
not very happy about this
ordered a motherboard combo on tuesday, and when I placed the order it said delivery would be thursday, So i click order and the order then tells me that systems take upto 10 days - now I look on here and people are saying a month ? ??? if thats true i am cancelling and going elsewhere
apart from an auto email invoice from the order if not heard a peep out of scan, its a pretty poor service when you take peoples money and they have no idea whats going on for days and weeks afterwards
if it takes so long why does their site tell you otherwise?
I shall be able to check each of the orders for you however will need some information before I do
If you can email me or PM me your invoice numbers I shall check the status of the order and then see where the orders are up to.
My email address is just carl@scan.co.uk
Regards,
It is pretty annoying isn't it... other sites like Overclockers gray out selections that are out of stock.
The thing is though, in terms of price SCAN are hard to beat.
Hang in there, Carl will get you sorted in no time.

From the looks of it yours is different to what others have ordered, others have ordered 3xs systems you have ordered a bundle so i would suspect the delivery time to be shorted.
Also the website states that delivery dates are estimates, you have to take into account other people's orders too.

Well, don't bump too much in the queue, I ordered on March 21st
Sadly the estimated despatch date was April 12, aka last Thursday.
But stuck at memory testing (step 4 of 11) since Wednesday morning. Called them Friday morning to get an update and was told the first test had failed and they had to replace some components, which should have been done within a couple hours, but no update afterwards.
Frustrated ? Defo yes. Complaining? Absolutely no. That's exactly why I chose a 3XS system.
March the 21st!! That is shocking.
If the turnaround goes haywire and gets out of hand we should be compensated.
For my part:
GTX 680's are out of stock and back in on the 24th April....
I got a build date of 24th of April and despatch of the 26th... i'm remain skeptical.
I suspect all the companies that do custom builds are the same...
On a positive note though the guy I spoke to [Carl] is great and very helpful so it makes up for the abysmal turnaround somewhat...
