    Silverstone FT03B-Mini

Will the Silverstone FT03B-Mini be used in a future pre-built system? Like say substituting the Silverstone Fortress FT03B for the Silverstone FT03B-Mini? Or is it too small or this?

    Re: Silverstone FT03B-Mini

You'd have to use one of the new enthusiast Silverstone SFX power supplies, and only certain hi-end graphics cards would be applicable, but surely this is totally doable?

    Re: Silverstone FT03B-Mini

Okay well since there's been no response to my initial post, other than my reply to me (lol) here's what I would go for:

    Case: Fortress FT03B-Mini
Motherboard: Asus P8H67-I Deluxe or Asus P8Z77-I - undecided.
    PSU: Silverstone ST85F-G (850w)
Graphics Card: EVGA GTX 560 Ti SC
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L12 (bottom fan only)
    Memory: Complicated -dependant on motherboard.

    What do you think?

This is a good website for someone looking to choose an ITX board for the FT03 Mini www.itxgamer.com

    Re: Silverstone FT03B-Mini

Been doing bit of reading up and the suggestion seems to be that for a mini-ITX board a powerful PSU is not required. On that basis then I think maybe a Silverstone ST45SF-G would be sufficient.

Oh and this is a modular power supply btw - no release date at present though.

    Re: Silverstone FT03B-Mini

I've been doing a bit of thinking about the choice of graphics card for an FT03 Mini.

The FT03 Mini isn't your usual case and while the EVGA GTX 560 Ti SC will fit, it has power connectors at the end - which in the case will be at the bottom near the case fan.

I feel it would be a better idea to have a card with power connectors on the top - which in this case will be on the side.

I haven't looked at every GTX 560 Ti in existence, but I came across the Palit GTX 560 Ti Sonic http://www.palit.biz/palit/vgapro.php?id=1497 which has connectors where I think they need to be. It is also a much shorter card with Palit making their own PCB (overall length of the whole card is 8.1 inches all in) and it has full size HDMI. And by all accounts it is a very quiet and very cool card despite being factory overclocked.

Unfortunately Scan do not sell the Palit GTX 560 Ti Sonic but you can get it elsewhere for £173.03, and I would be leaning towards this Palit card rather than the EVGA card.

I would say that the Silverstone ST45SF-G would be sufficient for power if you do not intend to overclock the cpu or overclock the Palit card even further, but definitely use the Silverstone ST85F-G if you do intend to overclock.

Might be best to ring and talk with Sales as this is a system support board.

    Re: Silverstone FT03B-Mini

Sent a message to SilverStone the day before yesterday about the ST45SF-G and this is the message I got back:

    Hi Cxxxxxxx,

You'll be able to purchase this PSU at www.scan.co.uk from next week.

Mit freundlichen Grüssen / Best Regards / Cordialement

    Mxxxx Exxxx

Scan have now released the 3XS Z77 FT03 Nanu which uses the FT03 Mini and the Strider SST-ST45SF. I expect that when the ST45SF-G comes out they will swap to that.

Interesting to see they have used the Corsair Hydro H60 CPU water-cooler as I never considered that.

    Re: Silverstone FT03B-Mini

It's a great case but the mobo's that fit have limits and will limit your options somewhat in also regards to that PSU. So if you want something small to cart about that has some real power great. But adding anything more than a GPU is a real issue so no PCIESDD, larger soundcard, Killer Nic etc etc or pushing any form of OC you might push in a bigger case with bigger PSU. But if your not bothered by that, something not much bigger than a G1 PS3 around 20x the power is rather nice.
