WOW. That spec looks truly amazing. I have an old ATI 4850 card here - want to swap for your GTX 690?

Re: Just Ordered 3XS Z77 Vengeance OC plus a couple of extra's

System looks awesome mate. There's nothing on it I would change really but maybe a couple of additions that I'd mention as possibilities. Not really required - just thinking out loud as it were

With this Kingston deal on at the moment with their 120GB Kingston HyperX 3K for just £69.98 I would be very tempted to add one to your build to use for the OS and then have the 256GB drive as a games drive.

I've got one in my PC driving my OS and I'm very happy with it. Gets 7.9 on the WEI which is better than my last SSD which is now relegated to an Apps drive.

The Corsair 650D has a nice window and a couple of the white Sharkoon CCFL's really emphasise this and allow you to see everything inside really well. I have some in my Corsair 800D and it looks awesome...(I really must take post some pics of my system as Scan have just rebuilt it for me)!

As I said the above are really just tweaks and are both down to preference. I recently went very heavy on SSD's and certainly have noticed big improvements in responsiveness in Skyrim and Civilisation 5. Less so in most of the others except for reduced loading times.

I'm sure you'll be very happy with it anyway. 2 GTX 680's should run everything fine at 2560x1440. If you're planning on going to a surround setup I might look at getting the larger PSU and think about adding another GTX 690 in the future. It will be massive overkill now but when the next gen consoles come out who knows???? Just pays to future proof a bit sometimes. If you're not going to a tri-7680x1440 then I imagine the single GTX 690 will be fine for anything in the next 2 to 3 years.

Re: Just Ordered 3XS Z77 Vengeance OC plus a couple of extra's

Indeed, that system spec looks like an absolute beast and will gobble-up everything you can throw at it

    I ordered a 3XS Z77 Vengeance OC last week as well but;

Went for the Corsair Obsidian 550D instead (I wanted a quieter PC)
Downgraded from i7 to i5 (I mainly play games, and therefore an i7 would be wasted) but still went for Corsair H100 w/ 4.6 Ghz overclock
Went for the Asus P8Z77-V (good voltage control, and includes WiFi onboard)
Went for EVGA GTX 270 FTW (should suffice for the 1920 x 1200 res I play at on my 24" Dell and with factory overclock rivals the more expensive GTX 280)
Added a 128GB Crucial M4 for OS and 256GB Crucial M4 for games

Have Scan given you a build number yet, or told you how long it will be?
I was told 2-3 weeks when I ordered, but haven't got a build number yet. I received an email last Thursday to say they're checking all parts are in stock...

Re: Just Ordered 3XS Z77 Vengeance OC plus a couple of extra's

    Thanks guys,
Yeah Nocode, I got a build date of the 30/7/12.

I looked into the power supply and the 690 only draws 373 watts so I could get away with 2 cards on it the 850. As in the review in custom pc the standard rig with gtx 680 only drew 365 watts 680 draws 256 watts
I may think about another SSD over the next couple of days. I need a big hard drive as I have a lot of music and video's to put on as I filled my 1TB already.

I will mainly be playing games and some video encoding so thought for the extra £62 why not

Now Drharvey putting lighting in !!! mmmmhhhh, I had not given that much though. But will now. I like the look of the LED strips that you can get now. Do scan do them ?

I thought like you guys, future proof it as much as I can.

I know the Sabertooth is not as good as the Maximus V gene but its so close in the stats. That I'm happy to pay that little bit more for better grade of materials and for a cooler running motherboard, mainly with the 690 chucking some air back into the case. The Maximus has 2 year warranty and the Sabertooth 5 year, but they don't mention that in the review do they.

Plus you all going to do the window's 8 upgrade offer for £14.99 ?

Ok Nocode got me thinking is the 550D a better case as it has sound proofing in it and the front is nice cover on it ?

Well it's entirely up to you. I've decided that having a silent (yet still cool case) is more important these days as I've put up with many a noisy PC in the past.

The following review sold me on the 550D:

Sorry for short post, just on phone atm.

Certainly I like my rig to be as quiet as possible hence my switch to full watercooling and SSD's over the past few years.

Having watched that review (which is very comprehensive) I have to say I am really impressed with the case.

You lose the window and you may get very slightly higher temps due to the extra soundproof padding. The temps could be mitigated by adding a fan at the bottom of the case though to draw air in and then exhausting the air through the H100 at the top.

As Nocode says, it really depends what is more important to you. A nice window and cooler temps or a much quieter PC. Obviously you have to like how the case looks too.

I'd love to have swapped to full watercooling (I'm very jealous of your rig!) but just couldn't afford it - so will have to make do with the H100 on the CPU, aircooled GFX and SSD's instead.

Re: Just Ordered 3XS Z77 Vengeance OC plus a couple of extra's

Thanks for your input guys, I stayed with the 650D as it got better airflow, plus the 200mm will be spinning less RPM than the 120mm, plus I can also put sound proofing in it, if I feel its loud.
I have made a couple more changes as well, After reading and seeing the HX power units are not full modular, the 24pin motherboard is fixed, and I have gone for the Corsair Individually Sleeved Modular Cable Kit - Red. I have changed to the AX850 as the 24pin motherboard power is able to be sleeved like the others.

I have also added Akasa USB 3.0 Internal motherboard adapter to stop the 2 front USB 3.0 going out of the back of the case and into the back of the motherboard.

Poor Jason must think "oh no not him again !!" as this is my 3rd change now to the items in it !!!!!. So I hope Monday is the start of it being built. I have left the LED out at the moment as I not sure on which ones I want.

LOL - I dealt with Jason too. Like you I chopped an changed things a bit but some of it was on his recommendation. Think I ended up with 5 invoices by the end of it though. Mostly for little parts for the watercooling loop but then when they had the Kingston HyperX deal on I added one as a boot drive. Then a couple of days later the 512GB Crucial M4's dropped quite significantly in price so I cancelled the previous order for 1 and added a new order for 2 at the lower price.

I started feeling that I must be the bane of his existence but he told me that it was cool and that he really was excited to be a part of the build and had enjoyed speccing the system up and everything. He even rang me to let me know how things were going and how well it had benchmarked in their tests.

Seemed like a really nice bloke to me and I would definitely order through him again.......if I had any money left

Drharvey, if you have any money left, please loan it to me so I can buy more stuff

Reading about the case choices above , am hoping I made the right decision with my Corsair carbide 500r case! - Not as good as the 650D, but am hoping it will do
