    Upgrading RAM (980X on a PX58D-E)

Hi, I'm wanting to upgrade my RAM from the prebuild 12GB to 24GB (6*4GB Crucial Ballistix), so a complete replacement. This is on a (2009?) Vengeance (I think!) OC prebuild.

I don't know much about overclocking, but I understand the more RAM you add the less stable your overclock becomes, and hard to tune.

I don't mind turning off the OC completely - by the bottlenecks I get in my work atm, I think I'll get more performance from the extra RAM and by upgrading my HDD to SSD. With this in mind, what's the best procedure for replacing the RAM? Should I reset the BIOS to defaults, or will it recognise that I've replaced the RAM and set it accordingly?

According to the mb manual there's a MemOK! LED/button next to the DIMM slots which should light up if there's a problem, and attempt to retune the RAM...is that reliable when upgrading (vs bare bones setup)?

Or can I retain the CPU overclock and just default the RAM? Is this even worth it, or inadvisable?

Also while I'm here... there's a recovery partition on the boot volume. Is it imperitive for that to be backed up and restored to the SSD? (I'm using Acronis TrueImage Home 2010)

Thanks for any tips in advance!
