ok confused do scan 3xs do full custom builds or not

Right I have decided this time to go with a customized build pc with warranty .
So after much research i narrowed it down to 3 and decided to call scan and ask about it.
I explained i wanted to pick my parts from their website and then i assume for a fee get it build as long as it has the standard scan build system
Gentleman at scan(said his name but sorry forgot it) simply said no we do not do that.so i asked what if i pick a system on their website and over the phone pick some parts like i liked a certain value system but wanted a better psu due to experience with poor psu(i know it will be warrantied and if blows scan will fix but rather it did not due to using a cheaper psu if i am willing to pay extra).
Again he said no!
tbh pretty abrupt .
I mentioned this to a friend and he said " what do you mean .are you sure you phoned scan and not someone else.i picked all my parts and got it build for a small fee over the phone earlier in year"
now i know i phoned scan and this was the answers i got.i am in process of making a decision and honestly i find scan general review ok but the abrupt and little informative CSR has set me back and now considering using a competitor based in bolton or another based in bradford who have less good reviews but the CSR there were much more informative and did offer me to pick the parts from websites even the web only deals and pay a fee and get it build with similar warranty as their pre build.
Bottom line do scan offer such services where i can pick my parts and if so how much is the build fee or was the CSR right in that there no flexibility beyond the configurator. and does it come with standard 3xs warranty.

They certainly did - my system in my sig was built by them and it was almost totally custom. They did ask me to change a couple of components because they didn't think it made sense, but I agreed to them.

Of course, they could have changed their policy since then, but that was the case with me. And yes, I got the standard 3XS warranty.

TBH you are now the second person shocked by this.does not say much for their CSR if this is so since they were near losing a potential customer.i still rather go with them if this is so since the other 2 do not have as good reviews as scan does.
i will wait for a offical word from scan about this and i have emailed them too.
ofc i will willing to change component on their advise if needed but thats something different from the abrupt no i got when i dare mention custom designing it myself.afterall thats the beauty of custom design been able to choose what i want to meet my needs and hopefully scan can do this for me and save me phoning those guys in bolton hehe.
