CPU Overclock with GTX 690 SLI

    Hello all,

I find myself here yet again to seek the expertise of this great community. I bought a GTX 690 last year and installed it without any issues, my original overclock was working fine and have been running my system without any issues.
I have bought another GTX 690 (at a great price) and for some reason once this card has been installed the overclocking of my CPU fails, it just wont boot. If I boot from default settings on the overclocking menu then the system works fine, I just want to see if I can get my system overclocked as normal until I can get my hands on the next X99 mobo/CPU etc.

Here is a previous thread regarding an issue I had with a change of memory from 6 gig to 12 gig. http://forums.hexus.net/scan-3xs-sys...ml#post2899069

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated

    ~Mark.

Your taxing far more of your CPU by installing a second GPU especially such a high end one more PCI-E lanes / Memory Controller etc. You would be best starting from scratch with your overclock until you find one your CPU is stable at.

What psu is in your pc? Adding a second 690 will put a lot of extra strain on the 12v rail. A pc with a pair of GTX690's will pull somewhere around 700-750w at least. It could be that the psu just isn't up to it.

I have a 1250W Enermax Revolution85+ PSU, The computer came with an overclock and I thought Id drop another GFX card in with no issues to CPU, but its looking as though it wont boot from the saved overclock .

Re: CPU Overclock with GTX 690 SLI

In that case unless the psu is faulty it's more than enough power. Don't forget that the 690 is a dual gpu card so in effect you are running 4 gpu's. Have you tried taking out the original 690 and replacing it with the new one to rule out the card being faulty? If you have then I think you are going to have to do as Jasp suggests and start overclocking from scratch. You are going to need that cpu overclocked as running it at stock will bottleneck your gpu's. What screen res do you run?

Re: CPU Overclock with GTX 690 SLI

Thanks for the help all, once I had the time to sit down and have a good look at the bios I found the timing on my memory had defaulted back to the original 6 gig, no idea why. Put the new timings in and its all back up and running fine.

    Thanks a lot guys
