    18 days to activate Windows?

    Hi,

Firstly, thanks for building my PC. Very happy so far. However, in the system page of my control panel it says that there are 18 days to activate Windows. Very strange as I paid for a full copy. Could you let me know why this is showing up?

    Thanks

Re: 18 days to activate Windows?

Sounds to me like someone forgot to activate the windows key and that the OS was first booted into 12 days ago. In order for the trial to activate I believe a key has to be inserted during setup but if theres no internet connection it wont activate until later.

You may therefore be able to simply click on the trial message youre seeing and select activate and it should go through fine. In the unlikely event Scan actually forgot to include a product key at all I'm sure they can email it over to you since you paid for one.

    As above.
You probably do have a full copy - It just needs to be registered.
You should have the product key included in your accompanying paperwork. If not, phone them up and have 'a word in their shell-like'!!

I do have the disc (think serial sticker is on back of my pc). I thought they would have just activated it but I will do it myself when on tonight.

    18 days to activate Windows

If you changed the motherboard, RAM, or other hardware component, Windows will believe that you changed the PC.

After three days, Windows will become unactivated. All you need to do is reactivate it and enter your Windows installation CD.
