Some questions before buying a gaming PC
Hello
I am a previous Scan 3XS customer - I last purchased a gaming PC in 2012. I am considering a purchase this year. I have a few questions.
1) I specced out a 3XS Game 21i PC in September using the Scan 3xs website (the spec is listed below). It came to £2185.96.
A couple of days ago I tried to spec the same system again - and it cost £2409.58. Is there a reason for this price increase? - have the prices of a particular component increased dramatically recently (e.g. the GPU)?
2) The Corsair Carbide 600Q Quiet Full Tower PC Case comes with 3 140mm fans. For a PC containing the components listed below, are 3 fans enough? Should I consider getting extra fans?
Thank you for your time.
The spec I am thinking of is noted below:

Re: Some questions before buying a gaming PC
I'll reply to this briefly, if nothing else it should get you a bump and SCAN may see it.
1) I've noticed this too and doubtlessly it is down to the £/$ exchange rate hitting UK prices.
2) Three 140mm fans looks sufficient to cool the above.
I'm getting ready to order something very similar, probably in January.

Thanks for the reply. The Pound has been recovering the last few days - so hopefully that will help prices...
Re: Some questions before buying a gaming PC
The price thing as said is down to pound vs. dollar, but also at what price point the current stock would have been bought in at or if it was done with pre-brought dollars.
Basically what I'm getting at is that if the stock was bought in advance and when the pound was poor against the dollar, it might take a little longer for the prices to reflect normal exchange rates otherwise companies like Scan will make a loss on the stock they've bought in.
Sucks, but hey... that's what we get for voting to leave the EU!

Hi cactusjack22,
The exchange rate has forced our prices up dramatically, were making the same margin simply increasing Retail prices according to the increase to our purchasing costs. Its not ideal for anyone, but an unavoidable consequence.
This increase does seem high, are you sure exaclty the same specification was selected the first time around?
Best Regards

Intel Kaby lake is coming out in Jan 2017 - Why not wait and get that instead ?

There's always a next-gen technology waiting around the corner, the Intel upgrades in particular are relatively slow and tend to be focussed on low TDP rather than outright power, think when it came to nvidia 10xxs a few months ago they were worth waiting for but this definitely isn't - current 6th gen more than good enough for your purposes.
