Replacement for Nvidia GTX 580 (EVGA)
Hi
I purchased a 3XS system back in 2012 and haven't made any changes to the set up since. My GFX cards seems to want to pack it in now though, I keep getting the BSOD trying to load windows (it gets as far as the Starting Windows logo). I can successfully get in on safe mode with networking but obviously can't do everything I need to from here.
Based on the screenshot, would you agree that this is a GFX card issue and not something else? I've defragged the HDD and checked for any system errors but everything else seems fine. The computer itself is making quite a lot of noise but haven't looked inside to see if it is actually the GFX card yet. This only occurred today and not enough time to go digging.
If it's a GFX card and a replacement can be installed, can you recommend one, please?
Screenshot attached which shows the GFX card details and what appears to be a malfunctioning GFX card..

The CPU was also overclocked before delivery, could this potentially be an issue?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Try removing the graphics card and using the integrated graphics in the Core i7 to see if you still get a BSOD.

Any additional tips/advice before doing this? Am I simply just detaching the GFX card from the power and mobo and linking the mobo to the monitor?
edit: also, thank you for getting back to me

Yes, if you place the GFX back into a different slot it could also magically start working...
Worth vacuuming dust while you are in there as well :)

Thanks, Noxvayl. I'll give that a go.

@CAT-THE-FIFTH
So I've tried booting with the integrated gfx of the CPU and this is working fine, no BSOD and can load and login to Windows successfully
@Noxvayl
Vacuumed the dust from the gfx card and the rest of the inside. Tried again in the same slot but same issue occurring. I have got a second slot but the gfx card will be resting up against the bottom of the sound card so thought it wasn't worthwhile leaving it there in case of overheating.
What gfx card would you recommend to replace it? I have a 650W psu (COSAIR 650W CMPSU-650TXV2 PSU). Not looking for anything expensive and only really need/want to play a couple of games on my PC - CSGO and Rocket League.

650w is op for most gpus these days. I think you should go for this https://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-...z-boost-2304-s

Try it there anyway - no use in getting a replacement GPU if it turns out the slot is the problem. Take the opportunity to give the insides a good clean, maybe take everything apart, change the thermal paste and put it back together again.
Also, I failed pretty hardcore on this score recently. Newest drivers?
Re: Replacement for Nvidia GTX 580 (EVGA)
I'd recommend the RX480 to replace it, I bought it on release last year and love it.
I would take the sound card out first, see how the card works in the other slot. I've had a situation where over time the use of a large GFX damaged one of my PCI-E slots so I had to use another one. Worth checking before you spend any money.
Re: Replacement for Nvidia GTX 580 (EVGA)
For gaming in 1080p, a Radeon RX480 is overkill, and great value for money. I almost bought one, until I decided to go for a whole new build.

hardly overkill, I run a watercooled RX480 with an i7 4790k @ 1080p on a 42 inch TV, runs most games on high/ultra. If you wanted to run games at 1080p and 144Hz refresh you'd struggle in a lot of games

Assuming it's not the slot.... I replaced a gtx570 2.5GB with a 1060 6GB a short while ago, stuck with nvidia due to needing cuda.
edit: note to self check dates, this is likely far too late to be of any use....
