Ordered £2500 System - Replied to "Query" Email regarding cooler but no response yet.
Hi there,
I have ordered a pretty large system based on the new 9700k and RTX2080. I usually build systems myself, but did not have the time to, so am somewhat familiar with components.
It was suggested that I remove the fan I chose for the system, since I also chose the option to overclock. However, I don't really want to pick a Hydro/Water cooler. I have always used air coolers since the Prescott 3Ghz overclock days, since I have heard Hydro systems can deteriorate over time and the coolant/solution inside will need replacement. They also run the risks of leaks etc...
I suggested the Noctua NH D15 instead, hoping it will provide adequate cooling. I also asked whether this kind of system would benefit from overclocking, or the performance improvement is marginal as it is already powerful.
I hope to receive a reply, meanwhile thanks for reading

Performance improvements is marginal in games and the Cooler is sufficient. But the overclocking is fun regardless. Also, I understand this is for scan support but they seeminingly do nothing... they take their time. PS their RMA service is horrible unless you pay for support.

Thanks, they actually replied almost instantly after this was posted. Support regarding my system has been top notch up to now, I had to swap parts because I screwed the build up basically. Adam rang up and was very helpful. They've also been in touch constantly since then.
I have been with Scan since 2005 or so, and never had a single problem with any purchase, last time I build my own system with a value bundle and it lasted since 2012. But...no doubt they've grown a lot since then, and when a company grows this much it might be hard to keep track of everything that's happening.
Regarding returns, I hope I won't need them. I haven't had a part fail yet from this company. Fingers crossed as there is always a first time. But I don't understand what "horrible" means in this context, as refusing a refund/return is against consumer rights in the UK. Even if it takes a month, and a part is faulty, the refund/return or RTB (depending on when it fails) will undoubtedly happen.

I replied to this but it might not have gone through...
