So, basically just the bait & switch scam, then?

Bought http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/896MB...-DL-DVI-I-HDTV the other day. It arrived yesterday.

    Picture shows

    Description states

    Package Type: Retail

So, one could reasonably assume that they would get the copy of Batman as described, yeah? Except, no. I got an entirely useless 'digital download voucher' instead. I wrote yesterday complaining about this, and was told, basically, that if I'd searched around random pages on the site that had zero connection with the product that I bought, I'd have seen that it was just a digital download voucher. The girl then updated the description to include the voucher disclaimer line that you'll see there now.

I wrote back providing XPS printouts of the description of the product as it was when I bought it, which backs up my claim that there was zero mention anywhere about this digital download nonsence, and was told that to phone trading standards and go away.

Someone from Scan want to tell me how this is anything but textbook bait & switch technique? Lure punter in with product X, replace with product Y? I understand that you can normally get away with it by including a disclaimer, but there wasn't one. Doesn't that make Scan's actions kinda illegal?

    Edit: Bonus pre-update screengrab

I'd hardly call the link irrelevant:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/shops/nvidia/b..._icmp=4e7kDyRi

Seems to me its totally relevant in regards to the offer.

As you know this situation has been discussed over OLQ with the CS Manager and myself, posting on HEXUS is not going to change the decision or the fact the product is NOT described as shipping with a Retail version of the Batman game.

You guys have the XPS documents. Where is that link in the description of the product that I paid for?

The link is shown on the main homepage of our website, first centre box, tab 2.

I added the item to my cart via the link on the Today Only page, and despite reading through the entire description of the item, I saw no reference to this voucher. You won't have either, having presumably seen the XPS files that detail *exactly* how the package was sold to me. Are you seriously telling me that you reserve the right to change the products included in a package based on the contents of a page unconnected to a product's description?

The link provided overviews the entire promotional offer as it always has been, we are not changing the promotional items included in your package as the promotion has always remained the same and always advertised as such.

Between OLQ and Hexus this subject has been discussed to exhaustion and as such this thread will now be closed as there is nothing more to discuss on the matter.
