It is interesting to know how Scan handles this type of refund. I had a similar experience but with a different e-tailer (Pixmania, never again!!!). However my HD4850 became faulty after 6 months of use and after several phone calls (Czech Rep. call centre), etc they refunded me the exact amount I had paid, i.e., £108. At that time I could have bought HD4870 1Gb Vapor-X or HD4850 512Mb Vapor-X and kept the change.
I understand that IT gear depreciates fairly quickly; however Scan should offer a GTX280 or similar (probably better card) or the full £280; as this was the price paid and the card failed within warranty period.
I would be interested in knowing the outcome of this.
