Razer Deathadder double clicking
Hello, I bought a Razer Deathadder in January 2009 and it has a two year warranty. A problem arose around four months or so ago where it will double click when all i'm doing is single clicking. It was intermittent at first and Razer support suggested applying the latest firmware and updating the drivers which is supposed to fix a double clicking issue in Windows 7. I applied this but the issue continued and I just lived with it so far to avoid the hassle of returning it. Anyway it's got to the point where it's really getting on my nerves, i'll go to close a maximised window and end up closing everything behind it too with only a single click. The worst thing about it is how intermittent the problem is and it's put me off sending it back. Anyway I emailed Razer support for a returns procedure and they have told me to return it to the reseller, which in this case is of course Scan. I'm passing Scan tomorrow afternoon, can I pop in with it and walk out with a replacement or will it be sent back to Razer? I don't want to queue for it to behave perfectly on the test bench and come back with a faulty mouse I'd rather it got sent off to Razer than that although with any luck it'll annoy the returns guys as much as it has me. I've plenty spare mice to be going on with in the mean time if need be albeit not exactly suitable for gaming!
After a bit more googling it turns out quite a lot of people have this issue and have fixed it by opening the mouse up and cleaning the microswitch with WD40/contact cleaner or just replacing it - I don't want to do this as i'm sure it'd void my warranty! Can't understand it getting dirty at all though, won't let anyone touch my mouse or put anything on my (ridiculously expensive Razer) mousemat I imagine Razer have had a bad or cheap batch of microswitches at some point.
Thanks,
Paul
Re: Razer Deathadder double clicking
Got no reply to above message last month so left it. Returned mouse to Scan today, process took in excess of an hour and a half. Would not straight swap for a new Deathadder as it's now listed under a different LN number (new iteration out). Was offered £8 for it as i'd had it for a year and a half (I paid £32). I've turned down the offer of £8 and asked for it to be sent back to Razer for repair. There appears to be some confusion as to if this can be done but the mouse is now with Scan and i'm waiting to hear if this is possible. Have explained i'd rather have the mouse back than end up with £8 or anything other than a Deathadder (the shape is the reason i bought it) so I can fix it myself (would've done it in the first place but didn't want to void the warranty).
Will update the thread with any further developments. This thread isn't to kick up a stink it's simply to document the experience in the public forum so people know what service to expect, be that good or bad it remains to be seen. My feeling so far is that if Scan wish to offer the bare minimum service the law permits that is their prerogative but they state their support mindset to be based on the three principles of 3XS - Specification, Service, Satisfaction, and i'd expected better, i've had better service from competing companies (over 12 month old items replaced with latest equivalent models within extended warranty period and quickly), although £32 isn't a lot of money on it's own it's a lot of money for a mouse and the amount of time spent processing the RMA so far would've paid for a new one.
Note:- I'm also less than impressed with Razer, if any of my Microsoft hardware peripherals have failed a 5 min phone call to the support number and there's a new one delivered next day and they've never asked for the faulty items back, and on one occasion the model of natural keyboard I was using hadn't been made for a number of years so they gave me a choice of the latest natural or a comfort curve. Razer just referred me straight to Scan which I know is fine (my contract is with Scan, not Razer) but if i'd bought MS you wouldn'tve seen a forum post i'dve been happily using a new mouse since the day after the issue began.

Re: Razer Deathadder double clicking
Can someone from Scan update me on this please?
Thanks,

Re: Razer Deathadder double clicking
Having had a quick look at this, I can see the item is being returned to the manufacturer for exchange.
Re: Razer Deathadder double clicking
Thanks for that, i'll check here next week for an update.

Re: Razer Deathadder double clicking
Thanks Wesley.
An update to the forum users - i've received an email from Scan stating the supplier have authorised a credit to Scan for the full amount and in turn i'll be receiving a refund for the full amount from Scan.
Will update the thread once it has come through then it can be closed.
